Farmhouse Treasures
I just made my first batch of lotion. I ordered my base from ky. Somewhere I read you use 1 tsp of fo to 8oz of lotion. It also said that the scent would get stronger for up to 3 days. Please share with me how much fo you use to 8oz of base.
SpaceGirl
Most use 0.5-1% fragrance load for a leave-in product like a lotion.1% of 8oz is really, really small (.08oz) and is very hard to measure. This is why experienced B&B makers recommend using grams for measuring small batches and getting a very good scale that can accurately measure small amounts.1 tsp sounds like a lot to me. Sister Kya
Ask your supplier. It all depends on the concentration of the preservative used in your base, so it varies from one to the next.
eugenia
I make my own lotion and use .5% for EO and 1% for FO (with a gram scale)e
Starr
I don't use lotion base but rather concentrate and add my own preservative, scent, carrier oil, etc... I use nearly equal parts of concentrate and FO. I took the amounts based on the supplier's "basic" recipe and my own testing and I'm SOOOOOOOOO happy with it. I haven't tried pre-made base though and I'm not sure how helpful this is going to be.
