Klam Posted January 21, 2009 Share Posted January 21, 2009 Hello everyone, I'm very new to the forum and after spending a few years making cp soap, I thought I'd give lotion making a try. However, I was just wondering, what is the shelf life of the lotions? IndulgentCreations Posted January 24, 2009 Share Posted January 24, 2009 That's just the thing with lotions and frankly why I chose to go with a base instead of making my own. You have to do the testing yourself to find out. From everything I studied up on you have to send it out to a lab to be tested for yuckies, decide on what you want to shoot for for shelf life...1 year..2 years, have it retested after that period. I'm sure some will say they make lotions and didn't do all of that, but if you want to do things properly this really needs to be done. asheebeans Posted February 2, 2009 Share Posted February 2, 2009 I've got my now one year old bottle of lotion still sitting in my bathroom....and I am waiting to get it tested. I was afraid to chance it so I really want to make sure my lotion and lotionmaking technique is completely sanitary. Bacteria is scary stuff!
