izzy2
I am going to making a soap recipe and the scale I have has both oz and gms but the oz only does fractions of oz (i.e. 3/4 etc). Should I use a conversion chart to convert the oz to gms to make it easier/more accurate? I went to an online conversion chart and 3.84 oz of coconut oil is 145.149558 gms so I would use 145 gms of coconut oil. Is this correct? So I would put my batch in a lye calculator and it comes up with the weight in oz I would use then I would convert to gms. Am I correct in my thinking? thanks for any help! sudsnwicks
Yes it would be more accurate to use the grams function on your scale. Oh, and 3.84 oz = 108.862169 g, not 145.149558 g.
izzy2
Thanks for your help and oops I wrote down the wrong oz to go with the gms (I meant to put down 5.12 oz = 145 gms)!
Kaylors Kreations
soapcalc's calc has a couple columns, along with oz it has gms too. that would save you from having to convert anything.. just read the column you want to use.
izzy2
i just checked that out and it will be a lot less converting to use that. Never noticed that till you pointed it out. Thanks for all the help!

MamaVSoap
I like working in grams. For years, I did the same thing where I'd have my cheat sheets and notes for conversion until I realized that one of our calculators has an oz to gm button. Our local drug store has them for around $
