When you discount lye, does that mean you are superfatting?

If not, does anyone know how to superfat with the Soapmaker light program?

I'm a newbie.

And is this recipe a good one.

Lard - 8.00 oz

Coconut - 12.00 oz

Shea Butter - 2.40 oz

Wheat Germ - 7.20 oz

Corn Oil - 14.40 oz

Rice Bran - 4.00 oz

Lye - 6.69 oz - Discounted @ 6%

Water - 13.57 oz (Not discounted)

Fragrance 3.00 oz

Hardness: 5.3

Stable Lather: 5.9

Fluffy Lather:4.8

Moisturizing: 5.7

TIA

That's an awful lot of corn oil. I personally don't use corn oil as it doesn't really bring much to the party and the shelf life is very short. There are other supermarket oils such as canola, sunflower, or even Crisco that would give you a very nice bar of soap without the corn oil.

Sorry that happened Faye. It probably was rancid if it smelled that bad, and the high percentage you used didn't help.

If you find a recipe that you want to add some FRESH corn oil to just to satisfy your own curiosity...just use it 10% or less
