DONNAMAC
-I use zinc wicks with the 6006. Whatever kind of wicks you are use to using you may have to wick one size up. I have always just used the zinc, and if 2 1/2"" is the size of a jelly jar, I usually use a
chrisasst
well maybe I got some of the bad 6006...I tried rrd 40 = wick drownedhtp 83 = wick drownedhtp 126 big flame....I am puzzeled
bugtussle
If an RRD40 will not work for you then IMHO, you have bad wax. For a 2.5" diameter, I would use a CD8 which is about the size of an RRD40. I don't use HTPs. What is the batch # of the 6006? chrisasst
where would I find the batch #? the upc bar code says 10005. only numbers I can find..
bugtussle
Did you buy a whole case of wax (60#s)? IGI stamps their Batch # on the end. It will be a number like B0700???. My bad ones are stamped B0700375. Some suppliers may cover up this # with their own UPC #. Carole
chrisasst
no I just a 10 # slab from CS....this slab is very soft. I can tear it in pieces, no knifes or anything needed..is this wax really supposed to be soft?Let me ask this...how long should I let this wax cure before lighting it? With gb 415, I could test the wick after about 8 or 10 hours after pouring it...do I need to wait longer. My wicks are just tunneling down and drowning... bugtussle
There is a big difference in a wick tunneling and one that just drowns out. If it tunnels, then it is not getting a full meltpool and is probably too small. A wick that drowns out usually does so in its meltpool. Drowning wicks are what I am seeing in the bad wax. chrisasst
hmm, then I am stumped...htp 126 will have about 1 1/2 flame and the next wick down, htp 83 tunnels in and drown..I don't know, I guess I will just go back to the gb 415 wax... chrisasst
I am now trying a cd 8 wick...I also let it sit for about a day and half and it seems to be doing ok so far after an hour of lighting...so maybe this wax needs longer to sit after pouring..
