sunnie
I made my first batch of tarts and used 2 lbs of para-soy with 2oz Madagascar Vanilla FO. They look great and cold throw is wonderful, but warm throw is barely there! I am soo bummed! Any ideas what could have gone wrong? Is this a good wax to use? More FO? sunnie
Hmm... I have been reading posts here and read that some people will add FO at about 170-180 degrees to get good throw. I added mine until the wax was about 155 -160 degrees. I wonder if a reheat would help?
roxi4112000
what was your cure time, and it could be that the fo doesnt work well with that wax. maybe you did add at too cool a temp, but you would have to start over with another batch and add fo at a hotter temp. Sharon in KY
If all else fails add 1.5 oz of scent per lb. But then again some scents don't throw well in any wax. I have found that no matter who you buy from you'll find only some FO's will throw in your wax.
sunnie
I have let the M vanilla cure for all of about 8 hrs. I can be impatient! I made up a batch of Pink Sugar tarts and added the FO at about 165 degrees so we shall see how this batch does.
debscent
Especially with the vanilla based scents I add FO around 185 or 190 (I use a 50/50 blend). You need more than an 8 hour cure to test for throw properly. Vanilla based scents are often difficult to incorporate if done improperly. Remelt, try again and wait at least 24 hours. An indicator that it didn't incorporate would be residue left in your pour pot or when you released your melts there is a little pool of FO in the bottom.
