how can you tell if a jar etc. is strong enough to pour into?

I found some little votive holders and want to pour into them..but that kind of wax would I use? votive wax or container wax?

and how do I know the glass is strong enough?

If they were made as votive holders you should be Ok. Read someplace that to check a container, run it thru the dishwasher on hottest setting. Then put it in the oven at 350 for an hour. If it is still OK you should be good to go. Always check your ontainers for cracks, chips, etc. If you want to pour into the votive hold you should use a container wax.
