A bloody mess!

I have a questions about colorants in CP. I made a lovely soap with a red oxide colorant. I used a wee too much and not only is my dishwasher a terra cotta color ( learned a lesson on that one ) the soap itself produces really red lather! I gave a bar to a friend and he said when his wife took a bath it looked like a blood bath!!! Thankfully it did not discolor the tub! I see all these brilliant colors in soap and wondered if it is a problem. I have made other soaps with colorants but maybe have been afraid of the brilliant colors because I don't want to scare anyone! I would appreciate any comments on the subject.

Happy Easter!!

I've never coloured my CP soap, but I do know that if your lather is coloured, you're using way too much colouring. I personally would find a bloodbath really offputting.

I have use some M&P soaps in the distant past that were quite brightly coloured, however the lather was always uncoloured.

You only need a very little amount of red or black oxides for colorant( but you know that now). The other oxides you can use more to achieve the color you are looking for but not the red and black.

Start by adding your colorant by drops til you get the color you want, you can always add more but can't take it away.
