BethieJean
Hello, I am new to this site, and am about to attempt to venture forth into candle making. I had an idea of using my wine bottles to make candles for friends as gifts - I'm guessing more decorative than functional, but I was just wondering if anyone had any tips or advice about using a wine bottle? Is it safe, etc?Thank you all in advance for your help!~Bethie:)
candlesprite7
I used to have a wine bottle that I would put drippy tapers on so the wax would drip down the bottle when burning to make cool drip designs. Is this what you are meaning? or are you thinking of making the wine bottle into an oil lamp?ETA: Welcome to the board!
Brenny
Hi and welcome. I'm a newbie also so I won't be a lot of help. As far as the wine bottles, I know that whatever container you use has to be heat proof if the candle is lit. Sorry I can't be of any more help. starlessjade
My brother painted some wine bottles as a gift for my parents and stuck tapers in the tops. He knows nothing about candles, but they've been burned like that plenty of times with no problems, so I'd say give it a try!I've also seen candles that look like little corks. If you can whip some of those up, you'd make a fortune.
