primheart
I'm really new to soap making, only a few batches made so far. I've been playing around with Soapcalc this afternoon and came up with this recipe. Could someone let me know if it's a good recipe, or how I can inprove it?Coconut oil-25%Lard-50%Olive-15%Shea Butter-5%Castor Oil-5%Hardness-45Cleansing-17Condition-49Bubbly-22Creamy-33Iodine-51INS-161ThanksNancy
Rebecca_IA
Looks good. Make it as is, or change the OO to 35% and drop the lard to 30% and it would be better, IMVHO.Congrats on putting a recipe together yourself!!!

I spent all afternoon on soapcalc trying different combinations. I'm going to try OMH with this recipe, hope it turns out.
Crafty1_AJ
Original recipe is 80% hard oils. Not a problem, but as you mentioned, lots of hard oils is not likely to be high on conditioning. For a more well-balanced bar, you might want to shoot for 50-50 hard-soft or 60-40, 40-60, etc. Somewhere in that range. I agree with bumping lard down and increasing soft oils such as oo. hth!:smiley2:
