candlecrazyinwv
I just recieved my electric sugar cone willow tree mold from fleximolds...I know alot of you order from them so you may know which one I am talking about. I am wondering how to add the darker color to the impression of the willow tree? It looks like the candle is colored DIRTY. I am guessing that you would rub some darker coffee brown liquid dye...right?
Laura
you can try rubbing liquid dye or cake shoe polish.
Candlebuddy
I take brown shoe polish ... the solid kind that's in a can ... and rub it in. You can also stencil your own design on a pillar candle (I buy my stencils from Walmart or ACMoore). I use a skewer to make the impression of the stencil on the candle and then rub with shoe polish to darken it. It's fun and comes out very nice. candlecrazyinwv
Thank you, guess I have to go pick up some shoe polish! I never thought about using the stencils to make other pictures either.
wvcandlecrazy
I know which mold you are talking about, I had her design that mold for me. I used dk brown candle dye to rub into the design. She also did the moose & pine tree electric light candle for me, too. Ginger does great work!!Sue Ann

But...I have a question about the shoe polish.Does it still stink real bad?My dad always used that to shine up his shoes and everytime he didI used to pick the can up and sniff it. What can I say...I liked the smell But anywho....Does that stuff still have a strong odor and does it interfere with the candles scent? Chauna1
I have a suggestion. What about using brown dye and a small sponge to make it look textured? Would probably work pretty well.Chauna:embarasse
candlecrazyinwv
I used shoe polish and it did smell when I was putting it on the candle but now I cannot smell the shoe polish.
pdevine
WVCandleCrazy, do you have a picture of the moose night light? I'd love to see that one. TIA Portia
Candlebuddy
You can smell the shoe polish as you're applying it ... then it subsides. It doesn't affect the scented candle at all.
Laura
after a few days the shoe polish smell goes away and the scent of the candle comes through. if using liquid dye, the smell and transfer goes away after a few days too...
