JMT
hey all,So if anyone remembers my soap opera drama about doing this consignment gig.So they (the store) wanted to consign at 50/50. I told them that most of the candlemakers I know think that is too low.On the streets where I sell my candles, I got $12 for this particular candle. Now they are offering me a 60/40 cut. I want to ask for a 70/30 cut.Do you think asking for $7 each, that is getting too greedy? I don't want to be greedy and also don't want to lose my first account either. But I also don't want to be taken advantage. I work real hard on each candle. And they also know I am clueless about business and that this is my first account. So I have to give them an answer soon.Any advice would be awesome!thanksjmt
cindym
I have always heard 70/30 for candles. No I don't think it is greedy. Could you wholesale these candles for 7.00 and double your cost?
Crowded House
If you want a 70/30 I'd ask for a 75/25 and "settle" for 70/30 or 65/35 (whatever their next offer is).
