Question Re: Flickering Flames

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am wondering if there is a scientific explanation for why a flame flickers so much when it is burning inside the shell of a candle. I am absolutely sure that there is no draft, because I have another candle burning next to this one and the flame is not flickering. I am testing LX wicks and even though I like the larger sizes they create a huge flame which freaks me out. I am burning an LX18 in a 3" diameter candle and it has left a shell, and now that the flame is inside the shell it is flickering all the time. Sorry for the long question.:o
