Karen Detter
I'm so glad I found this site!I've been working on my own bath & body products for several months and I think I've come up with a few great formulas, so I'd like to try my hand at selling. I've done my research and make sure everything is properly preserved and labeled, but I'm wondering if I should get a product liability insurance policy even though I plan to sell only on a very small scale (maybe generate a couple thousand dollars in sales annually)?I know I can get a resonable policy through membership in the Soap Crafter's Guild, but I'm curious how many of you who sell your products actually have liability policies. Thanks! Kymber
I carry product liability and get mine through my homeowners policy for under $50 a year. I have heard horro stories on Ins so was very pleasantly surprised when my ajent did my quote for me!
TeriM
This comes up all the time and there are some really good threads about it.. You need more than products liability - there are so many situations that come up that people assume they have coverage for and they don't. Things that you may think would be covered under your homeowners or auto policies are not...
Bunny
Hi Karen! Welcome to CT!The soapguild has just put together a insurance plan for us! It's about 600 bucks less than what I was paying for an equivalent policy. HTH!http://www.soapguild.org/public/insurance.php
malaki
i just went through this with my insurance agent and they will not cover me on my homeowners policy. so i am going to be getting my insurance through benchmark but it all depends on where you live it is like 340 dollars a year for 500,000 coverage and for like 30 dollars more you get 1,000,000 dollars coverage. good luck
