ashncandles
Quick question..I have a package of the beeswax sheets from CandleWic, it came with one long string of wick that I've been using with it. But so far I've only made rolled tapers out of it. If I roll a wider candle.. will this same wick still work? I dont know what kind it is, it's whatever came with the package.TIA!Ash
Henryk
Depends on how much wider you roll it really. I would call candlewic and ask them what the wick was they included. If it worked in your taper than just go up a size for 2", etc. then test.Oh - and don't use a full sheet for a test - what are they like 8x16" or something - cut it in half - that way you'll get two testers for same amount of sheeting. You'll know if your wick is burning right or wrong with a 4" tall candle. (What I did for the pic below). Roll them really tight and you can pretty much get away with using the same wick in rolled that you can with poured BW candles - at least that has been my experience. Beth-VT
The wick they supply is a 2/0. Although the burn is perfect, I don't like using it because it does not trim, and after an hour or so there's this really long chunk of burned wick that falls of into the candle. Weird thing is the flame doesn't get big. I've switched to a self trimming wick and like it much better. And Henryk is right on about cutting the sheets down for testing, I do the same thing. ashncandles
I made one this afternoon... it didn't turn out very pretty. Kinda bland and boring. Nothing like my Callalillies that I made awhile back! But it burned really well. Other than the wick does get really long. It never fell off tho, I had to trim it cos the flame was getting so tall. 3lephant1
I started out with beeswax sheets but decided to try to make my own wax sheets using paraffin/beeswax mix . I dip a board soaked in water into liquid wax. I've just started to experiment with it. I've also used a #2 wick but I always soak my wick in beeswax.
