MochaMama Posted October 9, 2006 Share Posted October 9, 2006 Hi AllI've been messing around with a basic lotion bar recipe the 3/3/3 oz of beeswax/cocoa butter/shea worked, but the bar left a waxy feeling on the skin. So I added some FCO and 76 degree coconut oil plus some dry flo. Bar has a niiiiiiice glide (according to my guinea pig husband) but when it is used, the heat from your hand dents the bar, if you know what I mean. There is also no waxy after feeling, which is great!My question is, how firm should lotion bars be in general? When they are used should the heat of your hand dent the bar a bit? (not to the extend of mush) Or should it be firmer? I ask because I have had very little experience with lotion bars and would like to hear everyone's opinion.Thanks in advance for your help! hawaiiansun Posted October 9, 2006 Share Posted October 9, 2006 If it's too waxy lessen the BW by say 5% or so up the oils. I add 1-2 tsp IMP for a nice glide. I am looking to make this for a friend: It's a shea butter bar with powder in it somehow that you rub on your wet warm skin after you bathe.
