bella soy
what causes this? I use ECO 8 wicks and some of them mushroom but not all of them. just wondering if its something that i should try to prevent it or is it not that big of a deal because I like these wicks and they have good scent throw and good melt pools. ChrisR
Many factors could actually be causing this. If the wick is rigid and doesn't bend into the flame enough to burn off the carbon is one reason. Sometimes it could be the wick is too big..... too much scent can also cause the mushroom. Some waxes have even been know to cause it. If you're happy with the burn and throw, just make sure your customers know to trim regularly to get rid of it!
Candle Makin Momma
If your candle is in a draft you can get one. PLus too much FO or Dye can also do it.
bella soy
I bet its the dye because I get the blocks and I have to shave off chips as i need them and my scale is not that percise to measure such a small amount so i guess..
Candle Makin Momma
Yeah the blocks are a pain. I started out with those and then moved to the dye chips. Just throw one of those in per pound of wax and it's the same everytime.
