DaisyP
Hi everyone! I'm new here & must say that this board is great! I've gained tons of insight & advice from reading through the posts!I tried my first batch of lip balm last night using BCN base & flavor oils. The texture of the balm is wonderful but the taste & scents are not as strong as I'm wanting. This could be my fault though. I tried making 15 tubes, each one a different flavor (I used 6%), at one time. That was my first mistake, lol! I had no idea that the balm would start to harden that fast, so, needless to say, I ended up having to reheat in the microwave quite a few times before I was finished. Is it possible that the flavor oils got too hot & just lost there potency? I know this can happen with fragrance oils but not sure about flavors. Also, BCN recommends up to 6% flavor but what would happen if I used more, anything bad? I'm wanting very flavorfull & strong smelling lip balms.Oh, and is it just me or is there Honey flavor really awful!? Is MMS Honey any better? Thanks in advance & any advice will be appreciated! AngelaVA
You may not have used enough. I use a little more flavor with their peach. Otherwise, it's not strong enough for me. Other than that, I'm not much help. I think the Honey flavor smells like cat pee.
cmille3
There's a section at the Scent Review Board that covers flavor oils. I don't use them myself so I can't help but here's the link: http://scentreviewboard.obisoap.ca/index.php
