Container Dimensions?

Recommended Posts

I hope I can explain this correctly: When I check info on wick sizes it'll say

51-21-18 2 1/2" - 3 1/2" containers; 60-44-18 3"-4" containers

My question is, are those "inches" they are talking about the diameter (width) of the container?? Like a regular size pint jelly/mason jar I have no problem with, but am curious as to HOW those dimensions are measured. Do you measure the circumference around the jar with a sewing measuring tape? I have made a couple quart size mason jar candles for myself and am trying to find the right wicks (using J300). But not sure how to calculate the "inches" of the containers.

Help!

Well, since you don't fill it up with wax to the neck, I'd measure it just where it starts to get narrow - the most common dimension. You can measure the bottom and estimate it a little bigger. It's just a guideline, it's not going to matter if you're off..
