ginkay
Hi Guys! I haven't posted much, but have been lurking for quite awhile. I'm wondering if you all could help me with a project.I usually make containers, but am working on some pillars and votives for a customer. She wants me to put "16" on each votive, so I'm trying to find the best way to do this. I tried stenciling with modge podge and sprinkling glitter, but it's not working. It's not defined enough and just looks messy.Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? I thought of the glitter glue pens, but I'm not sure if they are flammable or not. Has anyone tried this? Is there such a thing as a safe paint for candles? I though of overdipping and carving "16", but they will be all white so I don't think this will be defined enough.Thank you so much for any help or ideas you might have.Ginger
Margaritamama
I use a thin knitting needle to carve what I want into the candle. You have to make sure you go pretty deep. I then fill the indentations with candle paint that I bought at Michael's. Once it's dried, you can rub the excess off with a wet papertowel, and then buff it up with a piece of nylon pantihose. Work's pretty well for me, but I know that other around here have used other methods......
candlesprite7
http://www.uchida.com/what/art/as.htm I like to use this Candle Deco Paint when I'm doing things like that to my candles, and I use and embossing stylus to imprint the candle then fill it in with the paint.http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13458&highlight=stylushttp://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13846&highlight=stylusCheck out these threads...Have fun!! ginkay
Thank you so much Margaritamama and Kim! What awesome threads. I think this will work. I'm going to head to AC Moore and Michaels for the stylus and hope that I can find candle paint there.Thank you, thank you, thank youGinger
