  1. Well, I know it's definately the first time we have ever seen you at a loss for words.
  2. Come now, ladies. We all know and will agree that I was the true lady of the group. Quiet, mild-mannered, and very well-behaved when out in public. You might as well admit it. Ginger
  3. I'm driving up on Friday with Kim and I'm looking forward to meeting all you CT folk. I've think I've got everything packed. Most importantly, I've got the Tequila! Can't wait to meet you all. Ginger

  6. Can anyone recommend a supplier for the hinged plastic boxes for 5" pies? I've gotten mine in the past at www.wesellcoffee.com, but I'm really not happy with them. The plastic is quite flimsy and I'd like to find something more heavy duty. Something like this http://www.usbox.com/Candy-Food/clear_smartlock_1_piece_deli_c.html but in smaller quantities. Or, would anyone be interested in splitting a case of the above with me? Thanks so much Ginger
  7. I would love to read your thoughts and advice. Ginger
  8. Thank you so much Margaritamama and Kim! What awesome threads. I think this will work. I'm going to head to AC Moore and Michaels for the stylus and hope that I can find candle paint there. Thank you, thank you, thank you Ginger
  9. Hi Guys! I haven't posted much, but have been lurking for quite awhile. I'm wondering if you all could help me with a project. I usually make containers, but am working on some pillars and votives for a customer. She wants me to put "16" on each votive, so I'm trying to find the best way to do this. I tried stenciling with modge podge and sprinkling glitter, but it's not working. It's not defined enough and just looks messy. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? I thought of the glitter glue pens, but I'm not sure if they are flammable or not. Has anyone tried this? Is there such a thing as a safe paint for candles? I though of overdipping and carving "16", but they will be all white so I don't think this will be defined enough. Thank you so much for any help or ideas you might have. Ginger
  10. Does anyone know where I can find tumblers with lids? I'd prefer frosted, but may settle for clear. Thanks Ginger
  11. Hi Izzy. I use 10oz apoths and zinc wicks. Yes there is a smaller wick. I use the 34-40 sp. zinc from Candlewic and they burn gorgeously. On some heavier FOs I have to you the 36-24, but for most the 34-40s do it. HTH Ginger
  12. Thanks Heather! So how many total oz of oils are you adding per lb of FBB? I see a lot of different numbers so I'm not sure how high I should go. Ginger
  13. Hey Kim! Yep, it's me and I'm back home now. Let's try and get together. Thanks for the tips of the FBB. I'll keep playing with it and see what I can come up with. TTYL Ginger
  14. I want to offer my customers a dry facial mask to go with my line of facial products I'm testing. I made a wet mask and it is so wonderful, but alas, I got some mold. So now I'm thinking to do a dry mask instead. Here is what I'm thinking and I would love to get a discussion started and get some other ideas and opinions. Clay - Kaolin (I also have French Green, but can't remember which is for dry and which is for oily. Can someone remind me?) Oat flour Powdered Milk A few drops each of Tea Tree, Lavender, and Rosemary EO's (Is it okay to add the EO's to the dry mix?) Package and give instructions to be mixed at use as follows: Oily skin - Water or Witch Hazel Dry Skin - Olive Oil or Heavy Cream Normal Skin - Milk or Yogurt I also have the following herbs on hand and was thinking of grinding some up and adding. Which would be good? Lavender buds Chamomile flowers Calendula petals Peppermint c/s Spearmint c/s Organic Comfrey root c/s Rosemary c/s Lemongrass c/s Marshmallow root powder Neem powder I'm thinking to package these in 8oz. low profile jars (which actually hold about 2-3oz. of dry clay). To much, too little? Please give me your thoughts and comments on the above. I'm been reading the archives and taking notes like crazy and I'm starting to get myself confused. So I'd sure love confirmation or correction on any of the above! Thanks so much ginger
  15. So, I finally dug out my sample lb of FBB to try it. I used 8oz FBB, 1/2oz. of Hazelnut oil, 3% Cyclomethicone NF, and .5% Liquipar Optima. Tea Tree and Rosemary EO. I then whipped it for about 5 minutes. The results: 1- Got fluffy, but was harder today. I don't think it got double it's size. Is this because I didn't whip it enough? 2- Didn't suds a lot on my face, but boy did the washcloth suds up. 3 - It felt great going on but it was just slightly drying around my nose afterwards. I have normal skin. Used last night, and this morning my face felt very slightly oily, or could this be it just felt smooth and soft? 4 - My daughter has oily skin, but she said it felt a little tight around her temples afterwards. So, should I add more oils to this or will this make my face feel really oily? Should I use something with or instead of the hazelnut oil? It was okay for me (normal skin type) and my DD (oily), but rough on my mom who has very dry skin. So i'm back to the drawing board. How can i get this softer and whippier? Did I not whip long enough? Or is it because I didn't whip enough at a time? I saw the recommendations that you whip no less than 2 pounds, but I didnt want to use all I had to test it. Can I rewhip this that I made with more to adjust the recipe? I'm shooting for a facial cream soap with this and would love any comments, recommendations. Thanks so much Ginger
