frankfrank
I've read that fragranced wax (I generally use IGI 4786) should be left alone for 3 to 14 days to "cure" in order to get a better "throw" when heated. Does anyone know exactly what happens during "curing" ? Is there a chemical change ? Or is it that the "cure" time just allows the fragrance oil to mix more thoroughly with the wax ? Do different waxes require different "curing" times? Do different fragrance oils require different "curing" times" ? Frank
Vicky_CO
Some believe curing help the throw other feel other wise. Here is mine for natural waxes like soy I do believe need to go through a curing time I do not believe that about paraffin waxes but I do believe you should wait a few days before you burn them. Here is why, your candle need to be totally set before you light it up. I know a candle will feel cool but deep down in side it may not be. Also you wax should be fully set and hard because that is how it is going to be fore customer. The candles they burn maybe a few weeks or even a few months old. The longer it sits the more firm it will get in most cases. With soy wax the FO and the soy wax does go through a binding process because of the properties of soy wax.
