CandleJunkie
When someone does a second pour of a candle in a container, what exactly does that mean? Do you melt down the wax and repour it? What about the wick? Thanks!
ashncandles
From my understanding, it means when you get a bit of sinkage around the wick, you pour a 2nd round of wax on the top to hopefully achieve a flat top. I haven't made a candle in several years (doing some wax research online now to hopefully get back into it), but the only time I ever had to do a 2nd pour was with pillars (which I HATED). My GL 70/30 never required a 2nd more on my containers, but that wax is sadly no longer available (that I can find) since their biz closed. rjdaines
If the shrinkage is not too bad, some people use a heat gun to smooth out the top.
IwantItgreen
When I pour a candle with a wax that requires a repour, I calculate how much wax I will need total. Then when I pour that candle I save a bit back. When the candle has set I reheat the saved wax 10 degrees warmer than the original pour temp and then pour again. You can remove the wick holder. The wicks not going anywhere. You only save back and repour what is needed to get a smooth top.
