  1. Thank you for the replies I am using 4 & 8oz tins. & a 12oz square glass. Perhaps I am using too much FO. I just worry about it not being strong enough. I am using 1.5 oz of FO per lb of wax. I feel the scent is perfect and had trouble in the past with really low scent throw.
  2. I have heard such great things about using eco wicks with soy but I have found them to be so horrible, I am afraid I am missing something. I use GB464 & using it in tins & glass jars. I have tried a ton of different sizes but every time the flame gets scary huge & there is alot of mushrooming & smoke. It is awful. The scent throw with them is amazing though lol Right now I am using LX and think they are working well. I heard people like to use CD wicks too?
  3. I like the idea of a firefighter who makes candles, its cute I'm a newbie myself. I had made some candles for my self from a kit and was like omg I LOVE this I should start my own business! I think my biggest regret is that I didn't do enough proper research to start. I read quick 101 guides and made a list of supplies and ended up spending far far more money on things I didn't need, or could have saved myself tons of shipping because I kept realizing I also needed something else and made tons of small orders sigh. I'm way over $1k spent and still just testing. And this is just with a handful of scents & just wickless + a few tins. It has been 3 months and all I do everyday is test and read, test and read lol I knew that starting would be work but I didn't realize it would be this much I guess lol When you think you figured it all out and test and it is just all wrong lol It can feel very overwhelming for sure. That said I still love it, even more so. I am happy I am doing this. I just might be eating ramen noodles for the next year lmao
  4. Hello. I am just starting to sell on etsy and I have a question on shipping I am hoping someone here could grant me their wisdom & insight I have a huge fear of things getting broken during shipping. I was only going to do tins but changed my mind because i really love the look of glass jars. If you ship your glass jar candles do you have any advice packaging wise on how to protect them?
  5. I have been experimenting with different methods for my candles. i was reading a ton that people prefer to pour soy at lower temps with alot of them suggesting the pour at 115-100 when it is slushy. I use Ecosoya PB Pillar Soy Wax & usually pour at 150. So today I tried making some votives, dye free no scent just the soy wax. I poured it at 125, it was fairly slushy and began to thicken so much as I poured it that I only managed to get two votives filled with 1/2 lb! The tops were filled with bubbles. The second one is really bad and even had lines through it. I am wondering how people manage to pour so low and not get bubbles? What temp do you recommend pouring?
  6. Hello I am starting my own candle business online and am trying to come up with good packaging ideas. I have come up with a few cute bag & box ideas. But I saw a box that would be perfect for my tealights but for the life of me I can't find it anywhere. It is a small plastic clear or frosted type box that fits 6 single layer tealights. I'm ok with it fitting more then that but I just haven't had any luck finding one like that. Also a few of the sites I checked for packaging only sells by like 1000 or something. Which I am sure is great and cost affective. But I am just starting out and may change my mind on details and do not wish to commit (or store) that many currently lol I would love any packaging advice or links to shops. Thanks so much
