  1. I have spent the last couple of days on the computer, reading posts and trying to figure out which company to order oils from. I live in Arkansas and we don't have any candle supply companies close so I will be out shipping on anything I order. I have ordered from a couple of smaller companies in Texas and have been fairly satisified. Also used Aztec in Tennessee and Soap and Candles. (I love their oils but customer service is a BIG issue with SNC). Are there any Arkies or OKies out there that could give an opinion on getting the bang for your buck. TIA Ginger

  2. If you were going to add container wax, how much would you had per pound? I am currently using J223. I have never made tarts; guess I'll have to give them a try. They are basically a wickless votive in a decorative shape, right? Same mixing procedure, just pour into a tart mold? Thanks for all the advice. Ginger

  3. Thanks Fern and FragileXmom for the info. I just don't know what to do with all the astorlite v that I have. I stocked up since I live so far from everything and now I'm not pleased with what I have. What causes a wax to not have a good hot throw? I guess I need to read up on that. Thanks again. Ginger

  4. Does anyone out there use Astorlite V for their votives? I had purchased alot last year but I don't seem to get a good scent throw while it is burning. Can anyone give me some advice? Also, any suggestions on a good votive wax when I get these 5-6 cases used up? TIA Ginger

  5. I have the same problem. I pour candles out in my husbands shop. I blocked off an area and put up plastic "walls". I use a heater in the winter and a small ac in the summer. The fumes from the heater are a little much sometimes. My stove I use has no oven so I make quick trips in the house to heat up the jars. It's a real pain and sometimes I bring my melted wax in with me and just pour in the kitchen. I hope to come up with another idea but until then I'll just run back and forth.

  6. I really enjoy the advice and pictures from all you talented candlemakers. I just make candles as a hobby; sell a few once in a while. My question is, when making pillars, do you want it to burn completely across or leave a small amount on the sides so the wax doesn't spill out? My other question is when making candles in cupcake papers with "icing" on top, what size wick do you use and once again is it suppose to burn completely across? Is it safe to burn in the paper? I have been "playing" with candlemaking for many years but I just don't feel as talented as many of you. Pity party! Any advice will be greatly appreciated. TIA

  7. I order oils from Aztec and I am very pleased with their oils and service. Plus, I like the fact that with each 1# or 2# oil you order, you get a one ounce sample of your choice of oils. That gives you a chance to check out the different scents they carry. Last year I ran out of a particular oil a couple of weeks before Christmas and they were the only place I could get it from and they were really fast. I give them a thumbs up. Ginger

  8. I am trying to pour some containers(j223) and having trouble getting the color right. I am trying to pour a true red color but when i add my oils, I get a beautiful magenta color. A customer called yesterday and ordered 4 jars in red-needs them today. No pressure on a normal day but this isn't normal. Is there anyway to get back to the red color?? or should I tell her that this oil just doesn't make red candles. Please HELP!!! TIA

  9. does anyone out there use astorlite v?? i am having problems finding the proper wicks in 4 different scents i am testing. i am up to cd7 and still have a small amount around the edges. in alot of postings, i have seen using cd5-6 but not cd7 and up in votives. what am i doing wrong?? i am not getting any smoking and only small mushrooms on one of them. please advise. thanks:)

  10. i have been testing peak's french vanilla & amber and also cranberry relish from aztec(can i say that?) both were leaving residue on the sides. i have been using cd4-5-6 wicks but i have ordered some lx 10 and 12. guess i need to order some lx14 too. thanks for all your advice.

  11. does anyone out there use astorlite v?? could someone reccommend another good wax for votives. i am testing with cd6 right now but there is still some around the edges. this is the first time i have had to go up more than one size. i hate when things throw you a curve but that's life. thanks
