  1. I haven't posted in awhile but I just wanted comment on this. While she has never done anything to me personally or asked for samples, when WIYB was taken down yesterday she messaged me on FB saying the same story about how her account was hacked into and she didn't delete WIYB. I did some further research on her and everything she seems to say is a down right lie. It's just a shame people resort to this kind of behavior. Do they not have anything better to do? She has ordered from me a few times and never asked for anything for free so she seemed legit. Just goes to show you, you can't really trust anyone. It's makes it hard to anyway with people like this around. I feel really bad for anyone she has taken advantage of. Just very very sad.

  2. hmm, if you push "order Now" it takes you to a paypal screen and it says * Includes Shipping & Handling Fees

If that is not the case then that is misleading, atleast to me it is..

If you will scroll down a bit there's a spot to figure shipping costs once you put your address in

  3. I don't know if this is the right place for type of thing but I was doing a search for something totally different and found a place that sell the Aroma Beads for just $2.50/# with no minimums and will use Flat Rate Boxes and ships internationally. Just thought I would share. Here's the link They sell them scented and colored too. That price and link is for the unscented/uncolored ones.

  4. As written in the pictures thread:

It is easy to formulate a cream soap recipe using soap calc. I like to use 25%-40% stearic and 20-30% coconut or palm kernel. You can go higher and lower, its up to you. The rest I make up with conditioning oils and butters.

We will use 22 oz of oils/butters The pictures I posted was for a 32 oz batch all whipped up. You might not want to make that much, so lets go with a 22 oz batch to start. This batch is also going to be at a 6% superfat/discount.

You will need 5.2 oz of glycerin, which will go into the oils and butters at the very beginning to be melted together.

    A sample recipe would be:

    30% stearic

15% coconut oil (you can sub this for all the palm kernel if you do not have it, so it would be 30% coconut...)

    15% Olive

15% Palm Kernel (you can also sub this for all of the coconut)

    15% Sunflower or similar

5% shea butter (or 5% mango, 5% shea, or whatever butter you want to use.)

    5% castor oil

If you do not have these exact oils, you can sub for more or less of what you do have and tweak it. This is a forgiving process (IMO) and it can be tweaked to your fancy. But make sure to keep the balance between stearic and bubbly oils.

You can also keep it simple and use all olive for the 40% of the conditioning oils ratio. Or any other conditioning oil you have. I have also made it with lard, tallow, crisco, etc.

That is the first phase of the process. Now to the second phase, calculating your lye. A lot of people don't think you can use soapcalc to calculate your lye for cream soap, when in fact you can. Its really simple. Plug in your recipe for your oils/butters you are going to use for 22 oz.

Soapcalc will give you how much NaOH you need, IF you were making bars of soap. But what you are going to do is use that figure, and that is how much KOH you will need. So for my recipe above, soapcalc says I need 3.09 oz of NaOH. Which means for cream soap I actually need 3.09 oz of KOH.

Now to calculate the amount of NaOH you will need. Take that figure given by soapcalc (3.09) and divide it by 5. for my figure its .68. Which is the amount of NaOH I will need. You can also divide it by 4, it all depends of experiment. I highly suggest investing in a cream soap calculator:

    http://www.soulgazersundries.com/calculator.html

You will need 35 oz of water for the cook. I normally use less, but I think since a lot of this is new to you, we will start with more water during the cook.

So to recap, I need 3.09 oz of KOH and .68 oz of NaOk. Some divide by 4, which I used to do, but I like this ratio better.

There is a 3rd and 4th phase. In the 3rd phase you will need .2 oz stearic and .31 oz of glycerin, this is called supercreaming, which will be added at the end of the cook. In the 4th phase will be where you will add .31 oz of Optiphen if you need to add additional water, or plan on adding additives, veggies, etc. This will be added when we whip up the soap.

I hope this helps in formulating your own recipe. I am not fond of posting recipes because people do not always have everything listed, and creating your own is part of the learning process and so much more rewarding. So hopefully the percentages and oils suggestions helps you to formulate a bit better.

Thanks for doing this tutorial but I have a few questions:

On the soapcalc, I punched your exact recipe and it gave me 3.13 not 3.09. Not much of a difference. Is this the soap calc you are using. Also, If you divide your 3.09 by 5 I get .618 not .68. I just want to be sure this is right before trying this out.

Also you mentioned that 5.2 oz of glycerin is needed...how is that amount determined just in case say I wanted to make a smaller or larger batch?

How do you determine how much water is needed for the cook phase?

How do you detemine how much stearic and glycerin are need for the supercreaming stage?
