  1. Okay ...stupid question...can someone explain what milky way soap molds are used for? i.e. what process? I am really wanting to make CP soap and I thought I remembered somewhere that you can use these molds but how does that work?

    Thanks

    Lisa

  2. I just made my first batch of cp soap. It went well - the feel and texture seems to be fine. I used the recipe on bitter creeks message board - the only thing I changed was I was short 3 oz. apricot oil so I used 3 oz of Extra Vigin Olive Oil.

Here's my question - it's brown like chocolate! Why did it get so dark? The EVOO??? Also - it kind of swirled a tiny bit - a little bit of cream color is swirled in. Any ideas?

Lastly - what kind of dye do you use for CP soap. I bought some water base dye - is that right or wrong? Please help!

    Thanks

    Lisa

  3. What kind of dyes do you use for CP soap? I found some soap safe liquid but it says nto realvibrant in CP. I read somewhere people use shreds of crayons but I want to be able to say all Natural.

  4. Okay - do you mix your hard and soft oils and then melt all on the stove?

My coconut oil - Opened from the store was separated - I used a little of the liquid in there and a little of the solid.

I mixed all ingredients with a mixer for a minute - 20 seconds at a time - then added fo and was told mix until trace - NEVER GOT THERE!! I Still poured it in the mold I couldn't throw it out. I put the cottagy stuff in and SOME Of the oil - I WANT IT TO WORK SO BAD!! :cheesy2:

  5. Okay - so what is the correct way to melt it? I was told to melt all my solid oils until there were just a few little Chunks left (once removed from heat they will continue to melt) - remove from heat and add the liquid oils.

Was I right to use the liquid and solid form of the coconut oils?

  6. I am VERY new at CP - tried my first one today. When measuring the coconut oil there was solid and liquid in the container and they wouldn't mix. Do I use a little of both or jsut the solid? I used a little of each and I could not get the soap to the trace stage - it looked kind of like a soapy very thin cottage chesse with a layer of oil on the top.

Also 1oz fo or eo per lb - right?

    Thanks

  7. I put this in a lip balm stick:

    Tropical Lip Balm

    31.8% white beeswax

    34.1% monoi de Tahiti (scented)

    34.1% virgin coconut oil

Simply melt the beeswax and stir in the oil. If you melted it in the microwave you may have to zap it again for a few seconds.

I never microwave these above a setting of 4.

Is there a difference between virgin coconut oil and regular?

  8. I am just trying to learn as much as possible about b&b products. I am a candle maker currently thinking of branching out. Does soap really take like 3-6 weeks to fully cure?!?!

What is your favorite b&b item to make?

What is your customers fav b&B item to buy?:grin2:

  9. I am BRAND new to this line of product. I am thinking of branching out. My candle supplier also handles lotion bases, dyes, etc. Can someone tell me THE BASICS of just (for example) lotion. How do you mix the color in, scent in, etc... Once it's mixed how do you get it in the small containers?:D

    Thanks

    Lisa

  10. I see a lot of you guys wholesale and I kind of get the idea that wholesale pricing is approx. double your cost.... Here is my question....

How do you list the price on your site if you have one? Do you charge 4 times cost for the people who retail buy from you?

I was told a company won't buy unless they can mark up 100% - (they buy for $2 and sell for $4)

I was also told that you can't sell for less than what your wholesaler is selling for or they may be frustrated because their customers could come to you for cheaper???

I am SO CONFUSED!!!:undecided :undecided :undecided
