  1. You're not doing anything wrong, there is shrinkage, I have never seen a one pour that was truly a one pour, not to my standards anyway, for the air bubbles tap the jar after you pour. I always either topped off with this wax or leveled it off with a heat gun. I love the wax personally. I also used 6006 which was suppose to be a one pour too i believe. Always had to hit those candles with the heat gun too. Gotta love the heat gun!

(hope this doesn't double post! My browser is acting up!)

Thank you, I guess I was under the impression (or false hope lol) that it was a true one pour leave it alone after kind of wax. I know it is a hundred times better than the last wax I used, wish I could remember what it was, but the shrinkage was horrible! I will definitely try tapping the jar next batch to see if that helps the air bubbles because that was the only fault with the two jars. With the one that is shrinking, it isn't a visible slope, but I can feel the wax sloping towards the wick when I put my hand on it.

  2. I bought this wax because I keep having issues with sinking and holes in my candle, with this being a supposed 'single pour' I thought I'd give it a shot.

I made three candles with it last night and two had air bubbles (I guess) that caused holes and the third is sinking the more it cools. Did I do something wrong? They looked perfect last night and this morning they're consistently looking worse.. =(

I poured about 175F which seems to be the optimal temp from what I found. They are cooling slowly... so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

  3. Well I went and smelled the DCM today.. I smelled pure dark chocolate with not even a hint of mint (haha it rhymes..) through it's CT. I didn't get it because they were sold out and only had a sample one they had on the counter but I got a good idea of what to do from that one.

Unfortunately, they were completely sold out and had no samples of the Marshmallow Fireside so I'm unsure if I'll be able to dupe it anytime soon.

I will definitely let you know if I can do it CandleCrazyGal!

  4. LS is a favorite of mine as well. I'm in West Texas so I like buying from them because the shipping isn't too costly and they get it here quickly.

Like mentioned above, their FOs are hit and miss. Some are great, some are not so great, but that seems to be an overall thing with all companies.

  5. According to Vickie at RE... that's how creme brulee is supposed to smell? Maybe I've never smelled true creme brulee... but all the ones I've ever smelled had a slight coffee scent to them.

NaturallyTru - Thanks for the suggestion! I really like RE's CT but that HT is just way too different. I can't see any potential customers liking it when I don't like it... at least not when it's melting!

  6. I use KY parasoy and I don't notice any ripples... I'm going to go inspect one that I poured last weekend now! You have me wondering... I've never noticed ripples before!

Well... I don't see anything.. well I can see a tiny bit in the purple but the pink has nothing that I can see or feel.

  7. I was definitely thinking about trying LS's Peppermint bark because the description sounded great regardless of what I wanted.

The other one is the hassle, but I think she likes the chocolate mint one better anyway. I find nothing that has the 'fireplace' scent already in it so that would have to be blended in.

  8. I need to ask something about this... the CT smells amazing, just like pumpkin...

However.. the HT gives off a more.. maple syrup smell!

Has anyone else melted this FO and had a scent other than pumpkin? The CT and HT scents are polar opposites.

I ask a lot of questions... lol

  9. That does help quite a bit, thank you! I read the reviews and one person said the same thing as you, but others said they smelled total mint.. I guess there may be differences between their candles.

I'm going to go to BBW this weekend to get some stuff for Christmas so I'll get my own to smell lol

  10. I think I'll try that Faerywren, thanks!

I'll probably also get RE's Toasted Marshmallow as well. I may make some samples to send her so she can test and tell me which one is close enough.

Though I may order a BBW candle myself so I can see what they smell like! That would help me a lot lol

  11. Well I asked RE on Facebook and she said that she thought it was closer to a... rice krispie treat scent.

I definitely thought of that and I may end up getting different ones and seeing if any fit my friend's tastes.

  12. I have a friend that is absolutely in love with Bath & Body Works' Candles that are scented Dark Chocolate Mint, which is described as:

A luscious blend of dark chocolate shavings and pure peppermint, layered with rich vanilla cream and just a touch of caramel

    and she loves

    Marshmallow Fireside:

Toasted marshmallows and sweet vanilla cream wrapped in the aroma of rich smoldering woods.

I haven't smelled them personally so I don't know what they smell like, but does anyone who may have smelled them know a good dupe? I have hunted online and can't find one..

  13. You know, I tried and I tried to make that wax work (the KY parasoy for tarts); I love that it's in granular form, but had no luck with it. Used/tested over one case of that wax, and the HT just didn't impress me one bit.

I find it really interesting that you had that experience with KY Parasoy! I use it and I get an amazing HT every time. It's funny how people can have such different results using the same wax :)

  14. I use ParaSoy and I have a great hot throw.

I go by Rustic Escentual's directions:

Directions: Heat to approx 165°, add color and candle scent, stir constantly for two minutes, then pour into clamshells, foil cups or molds. Pour temperature should be around 155°-160°.
I add my FO and color around 160° - 165° and have been making sure I pour at around 155°.

I have Grandma's Kitchen but I haven't tried it yet, nor have I done any of those others, so I really can't tell you if it is the FOs or not!

I just made a batch of Fruit Slices (from Lonestar) and I made them on Monday using KY Parasoy. I took it to school with me today and melted it in my classroom. It filled my classroom within 5 minutes (2 cubes) and you could smell it throughout the entire hallway the rest of the day.

  15. I smelled this OOB and wasn't a big fan of it, but I went ahead and made 6 or 7 tarts out of it anyway.

I really like it in a tart! It's very very strong and overpowers a small room quickly. I was able to burn it in my classroom for about 20 minutes before I had to turn it off, it got way too strong for me!

I used it in KY ParaSoy and it smells great. Definitely recommend if you are a creme brulee and gingerbread fan. I think it's a great combo.

  16. My mother, among many other businesses in town, sell Circle E candles. When she first started wholesaling with them (about 4 years ago) they told her the difference in their candles was their unique, special "scented chunk" that they put in the wax.

Now, I will admit, in their Bird of Paradise (linked below) I do notice a drastic change in the scent when the chunk starts to melt versus the wax going solo. So they seemingly have a huge amount of FO in them as compared to the wax.Cir

Can anyone help me figure out what those are? They are harder than the container wax because it takes them longer to melt.

Here's a link to Bird of Paradise through them. If you click on the "view larger image" you'll notice that just below their label is a very dark spot. That's one of their "scent chunks".
