  1. I don't smell any pine in it myself.
  2. Only fragrance has the champagne show showers fragrance that is a dupe of Lush. I don't know if that would be similar, but its a fresh scent, with a bit of a grapefruity scent and some cognac. I think the lush scent is fantastic, but maybe it would be close for ya. HTH :smiley2:
  3. Ive placed an order for the 10 samples, looking forward to them coming in! I'll post a review of them when they get here. This is what I ordered: 1. Butt Naked 2. Iced Cranberry 3. Patchouli 4. Plumeria Frangipani 5. Summer Margarita 6. Amish Harvest 7. Champagne Snow Showers 8. Fluffy Cupcake 9. Soda Pop 10. Jamacia Me Crazy
  4. Oh, I hope they are good! It would be nice to actually have a place close by to get my fragrances from! Atlanta is only an hour up the interstate for me!
  5. So I made another batch that I liked this morning! Used Antique Sandalwood from Candle Science, smells amazing! Also decided to make me some lil' labels for my jars, lol!
  6. Day Two: The scent on the green ones is ALOT better. Liking them a bit more now! The pink one is burning nicely, just noticing one little thing. What would make a very small hissing noise occasionally when burning a candle? Could it be air bubbles in the wax?
  7. I bought it from Hobby Lobby, it would be the one in the big 10 lb slab. Think the brand name is crafty candles? Sorry, still a newbie at candle making
  8. It's paraffin wax. I used dye blocks, and only a few small shavings of red and yellow to make it that translucent. I've been trying to take a pic of the pink one lit, but my camera is terrible lol.. the whole candle glows when lit, and looks so pretty.
  9. Here are some experiments of mine from this morning. The green ones are votives, scented Ocean Breeze, and the pink ones are 2 inch pillars, scented Hawaiian Mist. Too bad the green ones smell terrible! The fragrance smelled awesome in the bottle, just not in wax, lol..... The hawaiian mist ones smell great tho, I'm test burning one now.
  10. The dollar bill thing was very interesting to me, I have never had that happen to me in any way before.
  11. Thanks guys! I am having fun experimenting with different things, and these lil' finds add up! I'm going out to get more wax to play with in the morning (payday!). I will definately be stopping by Goodwill again, just to see whats new.
  12. I will definately start extinguishing my candles that way! I think it was a pillar wax I used, I can't really find a container wax in my area. Who still sells it online without having to purchase a whole UPS truck? hehe
  13. Hi! I'm new here as well, and I know what you mean by that "Finally"! Took forever to find a forum with ppl who actually post, hehe. I'm going about the candlemaking thing the opposite way I think. Bought a kit, found some more supplies, and experimenting as I go. Think the best thing Ive done so far is buy a Presto Pot. It beats using my stove and my pots. I don't have a spigot hooked up or anything, I don't think I need one. Well, welcome!
  14. I think you can find a Presto Kettle already outfitted with the spigot on Ebay I have one without a spigot, I love it! Now I can leave my stove alone.. that has a nice, waxy spotted finish now, lol
  15. Well, I was out and about today, and stopped at the Goodwill near my house, just looking for a cheap basket to store some stuff in. (completely non-candle related) What I found was a big bag with the following inside, priced at $3.13: 1. Mini Aluminum Pour Pot 2. 2 Seamless Aluminum Pillar Molds, wick pins included 3. 100ct bag of wicks, all accounted for (the tag on that bag reads "Lone Star Candle Supply, Zinc 51-32-18, 9") Just thought that was pretty cool! The molds do not seem to have ever been used, same with the pouring pot. :yay:It seems like someone thinks I should be making candles.:tiptoe: Edit: I figured I should also tell ya'll how I started making candles. I was wandering around in Michaels, and came across a Candlemaking set, discounted to $11.00. When I picked up the box, there was a dollar bill taped to the back of it. Someone had written, "May you have Joy" across the top of it. Just think its pretty cool.
  16. It's almost 4 inches. Just shy of it.
  17. Kind of.. I made a few the other day with the same wax, wicks, etc, and they burned great IMO. I wanted the wax on the edges to stay so the jars would keep looking nice after burning the candle. They burn evenly down the center of the candle, and the wax pool is about 2&1/2 inches in diameter, leaving just enough around the edges. The only time i notice any smoke would be when I blow it out. Is there anything else I should be looking for?
  18. Hey guys! I've been haunting these forums for a while now, finally registered and am posting my first set of pics. I have been working with Palm Wax, and love making container candles. These are from my batch this morning, the green one is Carribean Teakwood, orange is Birds of Paradise, and blue is Clean Cotton. All of the fragrances are from Candle Science, and smell fabulous! I only had to do one pour on these, the tops turned out perfect! I really like how the palm wax crystalizes like this.
