  1. Hi Chris,

Never ordered from JS before and I noticed you like Pink Bombshell and Girls's Night Out. You obviously use these in B&B, but have you tried these in candles yet and what is your opinion on the hot throw. I would be incorporating these into 100 % soy and 4730. Any info would be appreciated. :)

    Thanks Chris!

Unfortunately, I only got small samples and used them all in Body Products where I noted. I wish I would have bought large,at least 8 oz. so I could really play in wax with them too.

I wish I could help out. I have so many scents to go through before I can order again. I have pretty much run out of space for new scents :sad2:

But If I do break down and buy more it will be Girl's Night out and I will get enough for both soy candles and body products.

    Chris--

  2. As far as I know white colorant is a pigment rather than a dye and will clog your wick. There may be some variety I'm not familiar with, but it's true for the ones I know such as white color blocks.

If you can tell us what kind of candle this is in reference to, there may be a better way of getting it white.

I got a white color block from Peak's. I use it since the natural blend votive wax (NOT Peak's) comes to me sort of gray.

  3. I used this one time when I was starting out. I then went online and found I could buy 10lb bags much cheaper and then 50 lbs and even with shipping it is a whole lot less per pound.

I can't remember how much my total cost was last time I bought 50 lbs from KY Candle Wax Supply. But it is a whole lot cheaper than what I would spend buying it from Michael's at $5.00 a pound.

I just looked at KY Candle Wax Supply and they sell a 25lb bag for $28.75. I don't know what the shipping would be. But even at that it is a $1.15/pound. They also sell 10lb and 50 lb increments.

There are so many soy suppliers all over the country you might want to see if it would be cheaper finding one that is close to you and seeing how much your total cost would be. Also you can have a better selection of wicks and Fragrance Oils than is offered at Michael's and much much better quality too. Than you can save even more money by having it all shipped together and have a higher quality candle.

I also bought a presto pot (can find those at WalMart) to melt my wax. I am not comfortable melting wax in my microwave.

  4. Hey Mary Ann,

I use M&P from Florida Soap Supplies. I add a little tiny bit of stearic for hardness (just do that out of habit, her M&P might not even need it) and a squirt or two of liquid soap which produces loads of lather.

I just ordered on Sunday night from Florida Soap Supplies and got my stuff on Wednesday or Thursday.

Incredible as this is (to me at least) Ginny the owner is out of town in PA with a sick mom. She has her family (son & granddaughter) taking care of shipping out from Florida. But, she kept in touch with me as far as my order. She is truly an incredible supplier. She even has a place in PA to ship orders from.

I am a member of her yahoo group so I get an additional discount on my supplies also. :yay:

  5. Sounds like your spigot may have not been put together right. If they are made out of brass, they carry the heat from the pot and never clog. I bought mine from Heartfelt, and Gena's are made perfectly. You can pump out some serious candles if you get four of these going at once, I measure and pour directly from the pots and don't use pouring pots anymore. The wax melts so much faster than in the big melters, and I don't even use it anymore.

We (you and I) got our presto pot and the same exact place. I got mine from Gena also. So who knows why mine clogs up. After my wax heats to the correct temp I then put it in my pour pot, and wax is the only thing that has gone in there. I save all my mixing for my pour pot. Oh well, I did like having a spigot at first, but now I have become an expert at pouring directly from the pot because of the clogging. Sounds like I got a faulty spigot. And how that happened I haven't a clue. But from now on I will just buy a presto directly from Walmart or wherever and forgo the spigot.

Just wish I could become an expert at making candles. :rolleyes2

  6. WITHOUT! I have only one presto pot and it does have a spigot which I did use. The spigot clogged up once and dh to clear it out for me. I went back to using the spigot again and a short time later the spigot clogged again.

I have decided the spigot faires don't like me to use them and hey is there any clearer message than a constantly clogging spigot.

Therefore my vote is NO SPIGOT!!!!

  7. You crack me up.

I think your site is fabulous.

Chris Got to go to bed otherwise I write more.

I think I'll going to go in front of the firing squad, LOL, pretty soon under the business section of the forum and have people critique my site. My husband said tonight the things I've done are kool but I've to speak of have sold NOTHING. I really have no time to dedicate to this. I'll in the nooks of my time try a new recipe and put it on my site after testing, but I just don't have enough time in the day to market it. I to make a long story short have spread my time to thin between my childrens' school, trying to still get our house set up from moving in back in APRIL (I'm ashamed to say), etc basically LIFE which we all know is crazy. So I need help in figuring out what I need to do whether its the overall theme of the site, prices, packaging, the products I've chosen, etc. I need to know what it is.

Now I'm off to paint!!!! and want to slip in trying a recipe I got off the old forum.

  8. NO more whacking votives for me. If you are wondering why I did that I think I read it somewhere.

Tonight I put my votives in our freezer for 10 minutes, then applied firm pressure to the tip of the pin and it came out.

Now, if I can only remember to try some Pam on the base of those wick pins, that is another method of removal I want to try.

Thank you everyone for your help.

    Chris

  9. Wow, MaryAnn,

You have done it again and again and again. There is no end to your creativity. Lucky woman. More importantly, your lucky customers.

How are sales going for you? I hope your cash register is wearing out from all the sales.

    Chris

  10. That's where I got them Teresa ;)

"candlemakingkid- I love your stuff. I pm'd you. Chris"

I didn't get your pm (I think you were talking to me:yes:)

I tried to pm you again. I think I got it. But I asked where did you get your mold. No one can give me any clear direction on if their mold will fit the oriental ducks or not. I really don't want to order a mold then get the ducks and it not be the right size mold.

    Thanks,

    Chris
