  1. I was aware that soy wix will pit, and the original candle we made and tested didn't do this - at least not to the extent the 2nd one did. We have found that the larger candles tend to do this more, but haven't really had a problem with it until this one. We tried this morning with smaller wicks to see if that will help. Also, the first test candle we made was only burnt for a shorter time, which may have something to do with it? Yes, we got it listed after only testing one candle :/ Having the product pulled off the site until we can get more consistent results.
  2. I don't have a picture of what it looked like after burning it, but it was pretty bad. We burnt it one time for about 3.5 hours. After the second burn, it wasn't quite as bad. We used 3x Eco12 wicks. the candle picture can be found at http://www.northwoodcandlecompany.com/Candle_Photos/candlepic7.html
  3. We recently tried making a 3 wick candle about 6"x5" in size - which turned out great and burnt great - however, after putting the candle out - the wax cooled and left a very rough and pitted top on the candle. wondering if other people have had this problem. using gb464. thanks.
  4. everything should be fixed as of this morning. not sure what the problem - re coded the buttons and they seem to be working fine. thanks for pointing this out to us. if you were trying to place an order, please contact us through the web site before doing so, and we'll send you a gift card good towards your purchase
  5. the photos, unfortunately for now are not the greatest. i decided it would be a good idea to break my new camera a couple weeks before we started taking pictures - so we're working on getting better/more photos up. we expect this to be done by the middle of next week.
  6. thanks for the input. we have been making some changes to the nav bar on the left as we go - and will make sure they all look the same once we've finished designing the site. there have been pages added and dropped and moved around (as we expected) so just a step behind on keeping that updated. glad you are happy with the overall looks of the site. we've received some great feedback on here and have tried to implement most every suggestion in some way.
  7. Oh my! We'll have to look into that. It should only be $7.95. Thanks for letting us know. If you were trying to place an order. Feel free to send us an email or give us a call. We'll test that out and get it working properly.
  8. se2653. interesting that there are other people in the area using this message board. depending on what quantity of fragrance oils you were looking for, we could possibly work out something together. feel free to contact us from our website and we could discuss this further.
  9. After just a quick review of the page, I'm thinking a better option would be to eliminate the 'paraffin bashing' part, and focus simply on the benefits of a soy wax candle in general - not compared to anything. And why we feel our product is a great option. Yes?
  10. Wow, I didn't realize this was such a hot topic of discussion around here. Pretty much any place I've looked on soy candle web sites, they have a page dedicated to this. I wasn't sure how much to push this part on the site, but it appears it should be very minimally, if at all. I could also go back and do more research, siting the sources of the information, although when doing the research orginally, I was reading articles from doctors, candle manufacturers, and and others that should be knowledeable - or so I thought. I know personally, after learning the process of making a paraffin wax candle, you won't find them around my home. But, ok. Suggestions taken, and we'll see what changes we can make in the next day or 2. Sorry for the delay in response, I didn't realize there was a 2nd page of comments. I'm new around this site. But enjoying/appreciating the feedback. Thanks!
  11. Blazerina - Always nice to have another set of eyes. Planning on working on the small details this week and getting everything fine tuned. Thanks for taking the time to look it over. Glad you liked the colors - it was the one thing we were really unsure about and hadn't heard much about. Now, on to the marketing side of things
  12. pagirl89 - thank you for the information, I've used paypal for quite a while, but am fairly new with the 'cart' feature. I'll have to see if I can figure out how to add the html, which shouldn't be too hard. bernadette, thanks for the follow-up I wasn't quite sure what to expect when signing up for this forum, as it is my first experience with one, but i'm glad people actually taken to provide constructive feedback. Thank you!
  13. i guess the contact information and about us page was something that was really just overlooked. looking at it from a customer standpoint, you're right. i wouldn't just want to send my money to some web site from somewhere either.
  14. thanks for the feedback. we had originally tried using a drop down menu with paypal, but it had limited it to 10 choices. we've started looking at other shopping cart options, but for now, i wasn't sure of any other way to do that.
  15. Hi. Just recently got a web site put up for our candle business - NorthWood Candle Company and would like some feedback on the site. We can understand the layout, but we designed it - so looking for some input from an outsiders view before we decide to do much in terms of promotion. any feedback you have would be appreciated. www.NorthWoodCandleCompany.com is the site address. Thank You! -Brian
