  1. I hope this is okay to post it in this section. I was wondering if anyone could let me know what they thought of my new design I did for "www.lilcandlestore.com" I am still adding new photos to the website daily, so there will be graphics in place of the photos that are not there yet. And I am adding new pages, too.

    Thanks

  2. Unless I missed it, I did not see any actual pictures of your products..how they look, etc. When I went on Bath & Body products, no picture of your actual product either..how they are packaged, etc.

I personally like to see an actual product.

The colors on your site are very nice..and I agree..you're off to a good start. Good luck!! As far as promoting your site..that's a good question. I'd like to hear how others are doing it.

Thank you fo replying and providig those suggestions. I have started to take photos of my candles and other products for the website. A few of them have been added already (Moonlight path, Sex on the beach) just to name a few. I will continue to add more. As for the web site promotion, I would like to hear how others are doing it, too.

  3. Hello,

I just received a box of wax from Natures Garden and made a small batch of candles using Tureen Jars. I melted the wax until it reached the temperatures 170 degrees, put in 1/8 teaspoon of UV, dye, and fragrance oil at the same temperature. And I poured the candles at 150 degrees. Smooth tops etc.. I have used this wax before but not from Nature's Garden.

I am beginning to see wet spots all over the sides of the candle and color fading at the bottom of the Tureen Jars. I'm also using natural HEMP wicks. The scent is not a problem, it is just the appearance. This is the only problem I am having, but the candles are smooth and smell great. It is strange, because my other candles I made with gb 464 never had this problem. Could anyone provide any tips on how to fix this problem? What do you do to prevent wet spots?

  4. Welcome Kristin. Check out the veggie wax forum for palm wax information. Many folks (including me) make palm wax pillars - they are so beautiful! I used hemp wicks briefly for soy, but found there are wicks I like much better. I use CD & CDN wicks for both soy and palm waxes. They work great for me.

The FO load for palm wax differs from type to type... Generally, 1 oz./pp is plenty. HTH :)

What type of Palm Wax do you use and wicks? I was thinking about purchasing the Feather (IGI R-2779) Palm wax from Peak Candles. Could you pour the wax at a lower temp than what is recommended on their site? They didn't provide info on when to add your fragrance.

    Thanks for your help

  5. I am interested in making pillar candles and was wondering what are the best wicks to use for them? I currently use Hemp 60048 wicks for my Soy Candles.

Also, has anyone ever used Palm Wax for them? I tried to search for some information on Palm wax for Pillar Candles but couldn't find much. Is there any information online where it tells you how much fragrance to add etc..

    Thanks

  6. I have a family member who is sensitive to many store bought soaps and would like to make my own natural organic soaps. Would anyone know where I could find a base or supplies that contains these ingredients? And detailed information on how to begin making cold press soaps?

organic oils of Olive, Palm, Coconut, Shea Butter, Kukui Oil, Neem Oil, Sodium Hydroxide

    Thanks

  7. I am currently using this soy wax, too. I love it. But I pour my soy wax below 100 degrees and it seems to work well for me. No frosting or sink holes. Sometime I do see that my wax does not stick to the jars well. This has only happened a few times though.

Where do you get your Tureen Jars and scents that work for this wax?

I have found I love this wax, at first the only problems I had was frosting on the sides of the containers but not the tops and sink holes around the wicks. I solved most 99% of these doing the following... side frosting reduced to a min by keeping the room temp too and adv. of 80 deg. for 8 hours during and after pour. The sink holes by reducing pour temp to 120 deg. and gives perfect smooth even tops. I have used over 30lbs of this wax so far in containers of small to med large as the small libby interludes too the 12oz interludes and the 8oz masons as well as the 3oz tureen jars. The wicks I have used in those are the eco 4 on the small interlude and eco 14s on the others with great results with FOs load of 1.2oz per lb. the sent throw is amazing cold and hot!!! I sold a few diff. sizes to co workers and they all came back the next day and said that these are the best candles they have ever had from anywhere including the big name brands... wow. and they all said that it smelled up there whole house... one said they cold still smell it the next morning...

so now after only using IGI 4630 for a long time I am now only going to use this wax as it seems to perform better and looks better as well with less cost and easier clean up.

Just thought I would pass my findings along. Best wishes and Happy candle making.
