  1. In my experience with soy in silicone molds like that I would mix with some paraffin so you have a bit of shrinkage and you can get the wax back out of the mold.

I tried soy in a silicone pumpkin embed mold once.......once :laugh2:Child birth was easier than getting those little pumpkins out of there! :laugh2:

  2. Thank you for the warm welcome!

Well, when I started out I went right to gels. All was MP and instead of filling with wax embeds I suspended them halfway up the jar so everything looked like it was floating. I also like to do slant pillars, cut outs etc. I use paraffin that I customize with additives depending on what I'm doing. I've used eco-soya and love the scent throw but prefer to use paraffin because of the artistic elasticity it provides. I'm currently in a rut so to speak because I want to completely overhaul my line. I've wiped my website clean and am trying to think of how I want to proceed. Now that I have a wee one around I'm considering going wickless. I don't know.....just in a transition phase at the moment :rolleyes2

  3. Haven't tried C&S Vanilla Pods (but now think I will ;) ) but do have their Vanilla Bean, and I really like it. It's light and not nearly as heavy as the Buttery Vanilla.

I once did a 3 case wholesale order of Buttery Vanilla. I couldn't bake for 6 months after that! :laugh2:

  4. I also totally agree on the powerburn test. Even on my pillars I'll start one in the morning and watch it alllll day to see what it will do.

But yeah, on my containers I prefer to have a meltpool that goes all the way across within a few hours and about 1/4+ deep depending on the container (8oz jelly jar seems to run a wee bit deeper than 1/4 than a wider jar but not much with my wick of choice) If after a 5 hour burn my pool is too deep than I wick down. HTH

  5. Thanks again!

I'm a little overwhelmed right now as to how much things have changed in just a year and a half in the industry since I stopped selling. Especially the cost of gel...WOW!!! Gels used to be my bread and butter and now I don't think I'll carry any at all. Heck, I might even go wickless at this point. LOL :laugh2:
