  1. Maybe it was a new employee, but it sure surprised the heck out of me. I've been mixing waxes for some time now and frankly I don't plan on changing unless, like you said, they can give me one excellent reason.

Then, what about waxes like the 6006 or TN70/30, JW9900, etc.? They are parasoy....

Okay, I asked and Peak's tech support said they mix soy and paraffin all the time. They were pretty surprised that anyone from their company would say that. YAY!

  2. If you PM me I can give you some information on a great web developer - and cheap.

I need help adding a shopping cart to mine......it's making me crazy. I'm using tucows for everything and they are great but I only paid $36 for the year plus $3 a month for the enhanced shopping cart thing. I think it would be worth it to pay someone else to do it. Right now, my site just works as an online catalog and orders are generated by word of mouth but I want to be able to promote my site on facebook ect WITH shopping cart.

    Great thread. Thanks!

  3. Peaks is my absolute favorite for FO's because everything I've tried has been great. These are what my customers like the best:

    Pink Sugar

    Pomegranate

    Downy

    French Vanilla

    Amish Harvest

    Love Spell

That's what I can think of off the top of my head but it's my go to place for most FO's and I'm placing an order today so this thread is great for more ideas.

One more thing, their customer service rocks! I love that chat thingy they have :)

  4. Cricut has a blade available that cuts thick stuff like leather. Iffen you have one or want to buy one.

Also, there is a company where I live that might do it for you, they have the big die cut machine and lots of die cuts but you would have to call to see. It is B-Line Design in Mustang, OK and ask for Beverly or Bob.

  5. Interesting.....a guarantee! I've never used them but oh the money felt like it was running through my fingers when trying to find my fave fo suppliers. How is their pricing in comparison?

    Following this thread...

    Edit*

I just checked out their site and they do have a money back guarantee on their FO's. The pricing is comparable to other sites AND they have a customer rewards program. If you spend $500 a year then you are in tier 4 pricing and get 15% off your orders. Think I'm gonna try a small order.

  6. is NOT quick. I got this the other day and was excited. Read some posts from the board. And watched some of the tutorials, and was ready to jump in. Well, I got ticked while adding the suppliers information. When I went to add more than the alloted spaces, the list "disappeared" and I had to start over. Entered again...same thing. I walked away and thought I'd try again the next day (last night). Things were going very well. Then I started filling in the information from the purchases so far this year. I filled in the amount due the supplier, and amount paid and the "opening balance" came up with the two added together.

SO...getting ready to get back in and try again. I'm usually pretty good with this stuff...but really having issues with this. I won't give up...but would love for it to be "quick"er. If anyone is using this and knows what I'm talking about...could you give me a tip or two? Maybe I'm just in the wrong area, trying to do the wrong thing...back to QuickBooks :tiptoe:

Quickbooks is a huge pain to set up but so helpful once you go to file taxes and balance your books....so worth it! Not sure which version you are using but the last one I used(2007 PRO) had a whole seperate area for purchases vs bank deposits and it subtracted amounts from the total once I checked off that it had ran through the bank.

  7. Sorry to be a downer, but if swiping a card 6 or 8 times makes you look professional and/or trendy, I'm not seeing it. If it were my card, I'd be out of there in a heartbeat, then watching my accounts like a hawk to make sure every swipe didn't take money from me.

There's no way I'd put up with something like that in front of customers.

    Just my opinion, of course.

I think everyone at this point is used to swiping a time or two or 5 to get it to read since most big businesses force us to swipe our own cards now. A Wal-mart cashier even told me that she keeps a plastic bag handy because their machines don't read the cards sometimes and has them wrap the bag around the card prior to swiping.

This is a good perspective though....maybe let the customer swipe their own card and hope the phone isn't damaged? Thank goodness most people use cash at craft shows.

  8. Shewill5, when you get in touch with Peak's, please let us know what they tell you about mixing the waxes.

I was really surprised when I received that answer, that I really should not mix two waxes; sure made no sense to me either. Will go look to see if I have kept a copy of the conversation, but I doubt it. i am wondering if that could have been a typo on her part? or a misunderstanding? I'm forever mixing waxes, lol

Will do. They are shut down until the 2nd, or 3rd and I am officially too except family gifts :yay:Honestly, I'm keeping my recipe unless they come up with a really excellent reason to not mix. Maybe it was new a new employee that said that?

  9. Shewill5~I love you Christmas Puppy, so... adorable, great job!

Jewls819~Thanks so much for sharing the site. Those bears are really cute. I wonder where the pouch is located.

Thanks SharonKay! It was super easy compared to the labor/mess involved in wax dipped bears. I also thought about put sachets in hats/purses on animals ect???

I'm so glad this thread got started....... Bittercreek's bears look like a nice option to try. Would love to see a pic of the pouch.

  10. I bought some cute little stuffed reindeers that were holding velvet bags from Wal-Mart at $3 each then stuffed the little bags with aroma beads in sachets. They turned out cute, there is one left from last show...will find it and take a pic.

  11. Hey all, my last order from Candlewarmers took 20 days just to leave their warehouse and then 3 days in transit. They told me that they are shipping in 2 to 3 days currently but I'm a little worried......I need the warmers by the 22nd. Do you think it's possible in your experience? I have four orders and sold everything I had last weekend.

What a mad dash to the finish line..... santa big

  12. Try a sample of NG's mystery orange moonstone (something like that) for your OSU ...

I'd probably go something red and dirty for the sooner lol.

Crimson and Super best ever cream, chic! lol

Thank you both for ideas, I will try pomegranate(and maybe mulberry?) types for Boomer Sooner and then start sampling the various oranges from NG and Peaks.
