I'm a member of several wax groups on FB, and it amazes me how much they spend on tarts, clamshells, etc.  I've ordered from 8-10 vendors that the "waxies" adore and I found most of them to be....ok.  Scent wise some were boring, their melts were not stronger than mine, and one vendor I think adds a single note scent to all of their blends to give them a unifying scent.  I found one that was really innovative in their blends and am a huge fan, and one that was really unique in their branding. The others seem to be a lot of hype, as far as I am concerned. The makers must be really good at PR and promoting their brand.

I used to be up with it and know about the must have wax vendors like CFTKR, Rosegirls etc etc, what Vendor has a single note scent to their blend? Which one are you a huge fan of? TIA

  2. I really loved Moonworks Scarlet Moon and would love to be able to buy it again even direct from the fragrance house!!!

As much as I understand the love for Alan etc, why did he say that Keystone practically capitalised on them closing by buying the stock? If Keystone had bought the codes ( Keystone need to say that in public).

It is just so messy when it really didn't have to be. 1 thing I would also say is that it is good people can still find a way to buy the fragrances, unlike the dastardly Scent Works, that sucked up to all the members of the Dish and other places and then just disappeared giving everyone the big FU#k You.

Hmmm... where do you get the glazed donuts and sugar cookie dough bread FO's from?  I'm actually looking for a really good donut FO.  💕😇

glazed donuts is from Indiana candle supply, sugar dough was from Front Porch - they have now stopped selling however quite a few companies sell sugar cookie x

I agree with that. But for quite some time, they were constantly out of things they said they had, prices are high (compared to others I use), support wasn't great.

I am glad they are coming back slowly with just one main product. But they lost all credibility with me over the past few years. So, I won't be in a hurry to go back.

But I do agree.... at least they are now trying.

i agree with what you are saying, a lot of what you say makes sense and is useful.

As much as I hate when companies leave companies like ours in the lurch like Scent Works, Front Porch, Tennessee etc I like when some try to make things right. It was so sad to see the dirty laundry being aired in public like that, fingers crossed the worst is over.

I am going to purchase a few fragrances while they are open and see how it goes.

  5. Hi i will do my best to explain. An example - just say Peak has codes for his scents, which he does. Ok, he has a great birthday cake scent, that scent has a unique code which the manufacturer uses to produce that exact fragrance which you can purchase from them. Most places it is 25 pounds worth at a time. Now only peak can use that code unless they sell it or give permission for someone else to use it and order the fragrance.

Some codes are worth about $100 and some can be worth $1,000 it really depends on the scent and usage. Some people just give the code away as they are not using it, every case is different.

any amount of people can use the same code, the manufacturer does not care as they sell more fragrance.

Some fragrance houses do not work on a code system per say, like a few fragrance houses just sell scents based on the name alone, so you could buy their lilac and so can everyone else. Lerbuthmuth (wrong spelling sorry) is an example of this. They do have custom scents of course, but they also have a massive list of fragrances that anyone can purchase and you will find some candle supplies have the same fragrances all from Lerbuthmuth. I hope this helps and is not as clear as mustard!

    Who is NVM?

    Trappeur

Sorry Trappeur, I came to the peak closing late, I had no idea what people were talking about so I asked what was happening, i have since read the board and it seems that Peak is closing which i think it such a knee jerk reaction it is crazy and akin to the mess The Scent Works pulled leaving people in the dark and up and closing.

The thought crossed my mind way back when with the scent works. It takes a LOT of space and capital to get an FO house going. With the many people duping peaks stuff already I am hoping the person who ultimately buys the codes from peak does not suffer losses ?

I really think you could do it and  you would do it well. If you limited it to the best of the best scents and grew from there it is doable. Based on the codes I have for some of the top suppliers the mark up is around a min of 50%

  8. @TallTayl I know this would be a wild idea but sometimes good ones are, why don't you set up selling oils like take over from Peaks, you have some good codes, dupes, you are involved with craft server  etc

I would do this if I was based in the US! I am in the UK and I am thinking about the EU market personally. I have codes from quite a few US companies and get oils from the US and EU.

Another great example of why/how I will NEVER use only 1 scent from any 1 supplier exclusively and have it be irreplaceable - because of this right here - who would have thought that Peak would have closed, and so abruptly? About 50% of all of my FO's are from Peak, however, I never get so attached to a scent or supplier that I can't replace it.

Yes, there are several that I absolutely LOVE and that my customers all love too, but with the way I mix my scents and make my inventory, I don't have any "must haves" from a certain place.

i completely agree, I have also said this many times from Front Porch , Tennesse to Scent Works, DO NOT RELY on any supplier, some of these suppliers sniffing around for codes etc, who says that they will not go out of business down the road. See if you can buy direct and divide the oils amongst yourself because if a fragrance house closes,9 times out of 10 they are sold to a bigger company. I hate to see business suffer due to suppliers just cutting them off without a care in the world!!
