  1. Hi everyone! I'm shopping around for a new insurance company and was wondering if there is anyone out there with suggestions. I'm in the Twin Cities of MN. Before I do some calling, I thought I'd check in and see if you guys recommend anyone in particular. If necessary, e-mail me personally Thanks for your help. Nola
  2. I saw container candles with wooden wicks on my jaunt to Door County this fall. They were demonstrated to me and I couldn't believe how much they smoked. Of course, the wick is wood! The person selling these candles said, "they're easy to use - just wipe out the inside of the jar with Windex after every use and the soot will wash right off." I thought they were a great idea at first, but not anymore.
  3. Hi everyone, I've heard that Mico 180 added to wax can help with adhesion. Does this include adhesion between layers of a pillar? If so, how much is needed per pound? I had some problems with my rustic layers a while back - the top layer slid right off the bottom layer when it got warm. What's the trick? Thanks for your help, Nola
  4. Thanks, Scented! I went through the list of fragrances starting with "P." Sweet Pumpkin Pie will do me just fine. Thanks also for the offer to sell yours, but I just ordered it from Peak, along with another scent requested by a customer. You saved my life with your information! Thanks. Nola
  5. Does Peak carry a Pumpkin Pie Spice fragrance? Something similar? Customers are requesting! Thanks, Nola
  6. I've just started using this wax and have used the color chips so far. I'll try the liquid to see what kind of results I get with that. Thanks for the suggestion!
  7. I'm really loving the feathering palm wax and am planning to carry a ton of it for the upcoming fall/winter season. However, I'm having a hard time getting darker colors. Is this the nature of the wax? Seems the darker I try to make the wax, the more white "feathers" appear on the surface, keeping the candle very light. I would love to have a dark base with the light "feathers." Is this possible? :undecided
  8. Thanks you guys. I have some samples of #3 and #4 SB and RRD 55 coming soon (I hope!). I really like how this forum is so helpful with testing results. You are all very accomplished in the field. Hopefully I can learn something from you all!
  9. I've had much trouble with wicking this very cool wax. I'd love to add them to my fall/winter line, but can't get the wick right. In 3" diameter pillars I've tested #1/0, #2, and #5 square braid wicks, and 30 ply flat braid, and HTP 5. All were too small, except the #5 SB which was a little too large. What are you guys using?
  10. Thanks, Sheila. I'll give the 30-ply flat braid a try. Luckily, I have some on hand! Nola
  11. Hi Everyone, I found a new love in palm wax. Problem is, I'm not sure how to wick it. I've heard for a 3" diameter candle that RRD55 is the way to go. I've never used RRD wicks before. I tested square braid #1/0 (too small), #2 (a little better), and #5 (a little too big - close to blow-out after hour five). Have any of you worked with palm, and what kind of wick did you use? Oh, by the way, I'm using the feathering palm wax, not the granite. Thanks in advance for your help. Nola
  12. Hi Everyone, I'm not sure if this post should be in this section but... I'm going to make some corn cob air fresheners again this year, but I seem to have misplaced the recipe. I've also been having a difficult time with the archives/search function. Could anyone please give me the ratio for corn cob to FO for air freshener? I'd appreciate it very much. Nola
  13. Well, yeah, I figured it might have to be bigger. I was looking more for ideas on wick types and sizes.
