  1. Hi and thanks for your reply!

Yes I have because when I just melted the wax for dipping it was pretty high. Allong the way the temp went down but results were pretty much the same.

The wax sets só quickly on the candles. 😟

At what temp they normally are dipping candles? I am afraid that when the temp gets too high the dipping wax will be destroyed?

  2. Hello everybody :)

I have a question and maybe you can help.

I am using waterslide decals and I want to dip the candle in the wax so you do not see the lines were the decal ends. I have seen it somewhere and was just perfect but... I can't seem to get the service smooth.

You can see drippes. I have tried to dip it quickly and very slow but the results were the same.

    Anyone another tip for me?

    Thx in advance 🙂

  3. You mean using Xcell?

I have gotten some in a bag from a forumfriend in UK.

    I self use CB 135.

To be honest I havent seen any difference. They work both the same for me. Price were I buy from is equal.

This woman has also sent me a candle using this Excell and again it wasnt difference in appearence then the 135.

But I live in a pretty "cold" country maybe thats why we dont have problems with them?

  4. Hi Steve,

Thanks for helping me out here.

    :yay:

Your from the Netherlands or your parents?

I think you mean "vervormen"" and that could be correct!

    German I understand as well.

So wenn the wick mushrooms it will turn up the heat. Could that be right? That is what I see. I see it as a plus also allthough I dont like the sight of it though!!

Dont know what else could be done to avoid it.

Go a wick up in size?

Like I said I have tried different wicks and I think that i have found a wick that burns to the sides and leave just a bitt of hang up is great allready after testing for 9 months.

But I'm here to learn so if you or someone else can teach me more about candlemaking that would be greatly apreciated!!!!

  5. Hi everyone!

I have this question.... I have been testing soywax now for quit some time now but cant get a nice flame.

The meltpool isnt an issue but the flame is not steady and easy allthough I have little musroom and only smoke wenn the wicks gets to long.

I use RRD wicks and they seem to be good. I have tested many types of wicks.

    My question is

Could the people who are testing right now sent in a tape/video of how the candle should burn in a jar? Then I can see the difference to my candles.

If its possible then sent a video wenn the candle is burning half way down. ( In the beginning my candle burns perfetc no matter what type of jar I use)

It doensnt have to be a long tape?

Also other kinds of wax would be welcome!!

    Hope many will respond!!

    ( I hope you can understand what I mean:rolleyes2)

    Thanks

    Anita

  7. I get my Glass Glow from CS. Its made from sustainable palm oil grown and harvested by members of the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). They are funded by the World Wide Fund for Nature and are dedicated to the responsible growing and harvesting of palm oil so that no rain forests or their habitat are harmed or destroyed.

The pros are you get a great scent throw with most FOs, a beautiful crystal pattern, a burn similar to soy that many call 'clean', and that trademark candle glow like a luminary. Downside are the air pockets that must be released and that the wax burns faster than other waxes especially soy. Palm burns different too first leaving a roof as the wick burrows down inside the candle and the sides don't catch up until the candle tends to burn about halfway down. Wicked properly the sides do catch up and the good part about it is the burrowed wick promotes the glowing effect with the sides high. I think its beautiful but I teach my customers about burning the candle if they are unfamiliar with palm wax.

BTW-- CS does do International shipping or is in the process of doing it. You can shoot them an email to find out more.

I'm afraid the shipping would be too high a price anyway...:sad2:

    Thnks for explaining this!

  8. I think that's bunk. Who would want to stand over individual jars and stir in fo for pete's sake. I would guess that most of us stir the pour pot all through the pouring process. It may be fully incorporated but I stir it none the less, so as to err on the side of caution. You want fragrance from start to finish of the candle IMHO. The question you should ask yourself is whether your current process is giving you the desired results. Hang what everyone else does. The same thing applies to wax, wicks and fo combinations that blow out the doors for some but not others. HTH.

    Steve

Sorry what does IMHO mean please?

  9. I add scent just before pouring at 125.

I heard of someone who poured the wax and then IN the jar put the scent in. Stirred it a couple of 'rounds' .

I havent tried it yet afraid that the wick and all starts to float!!

and I quess that the top of th jars gets messy with wax?

She said this way I have a great scent throw.

    What do you all think?

  10. I don't use your particular soy wax, as that one is notorious for a weak throw. Also soy candles need to "cure" for at least several days to a long as several weeks. I would suggest to put the lids back on and put them in the closet for a week. Then try again. How much fragrance oil did you use? Soy wax needs 7% - 9% FO. The size and type of wick also can make a difference. HTH!

    What soywax do you use?

Were could I find the info wich soywa throws best?

  11. Hi,

    Welcome to this forum :-)

And good going back into the bussiness!:yay:

I am testing since december and have bought Ecosoya CB135

for containers and quit a number of wick types!! And I'm still not done testing!

It looks like a candle in a jar is not that easy to make.

From another forum I've got some wax from a member thats called Xcell and Im burning that right now but dont see much differnce in burnquality though.

Also want to get started with Rapeseed wax also called Canola?

Its so that I live in the Netherlands and I think its not so enviromental friendly to lett ship soywax from USA to my country and rapeseed is growing here in Europe. Thats important to me too. And I dont want to switch to parafin because of healht issues.

Think other forummembers will be able to help you further!!

    Groetjes van
