  1. Hi Soy, no I didnt heat the jars but left them out for a while on a sheet of newspaper to go to room temperature. I live in the UK so it is spring here but still a bit mild in the evenings and I made the candles around 4pm so the temp wouldnhave dropped overnight when the heating went off. I'll try and warm the jars first and make them earlier in the day to see if that helps, many thanks.
  2. Hi all! I am still having problems with wet spots on the sides of the glass containers. Help! Have been trying new CB Xl wax, heating to 180 adding fragrance (no dye) then cooling to 110 and pouring at 110. Have tried a few different pouring temps above 110 and just below. Pouring at 110 makes a lovely smooth candle top but once cured for a few hours there are various wet spots or the candle is half stuck to the sides of the glass/half pulled away from the glass. Glasses are at room temp and stood on the counter or on newspaper. I am so dissapointed as I have had problems with the other CB waxes (CB135 and advanced) and was hoping this new wax was the answer. I thought this new wax was supposed to adhere to the glass and resist wet spots. Not in my case lol. Any ideas on how to eliminate wet spots but still have a smooth top/good looking candle? I need to crack this nut lol.
  3. Hi Autumn Meadow thanks for the reply, I heated the CBXl to 180 and let it cool to just below 110. I added fragrance but no colour at 180 and stirred well then left it to cool. The containers/glasses were at room temp but I did leave them to cool on a wire rack and not the counter top. Maybe I should try again pouring at slightly higher or lower temps. I want to persevere until I've got it right.
  4. Hi Autumn meadow, has the cbxl adhered to the glass or pulled away? Did you heat the glassware first or use it at room temp? Are you having any problems with surface cracking or wet spots? Im having loads of problems with the CB-xl wax, every candle has cracked and has wet spots even after curing for 24 hours. My candles look awful. I may have to resort to frosted glassware as I've also had problems with CB advanced, (cracking around edge of top when it pulled away from glass and Ht not as good as CB 135) and also had problems with rough surface & wet spots with CB 135. I am determined to make a great looking candle! one day! If only I could find the right wax...
  5. oakbrookcandles, can I ask what temp you pour the Xl? your candles look great thanks
  6. Hi Oakdalecandles, can I ask what temp youpoured your soy candles at? they look great! I am having so many problems with cracks, wet spots with the new CB-XL. Have been pouring in to non heated glass containers at around 115 temp and 100 temp. Maybe I need a higher pour temp? thanks
  7. HI, I've tried making container candles using the new CB-XL soy wax but have had no end of problems. Tried pouring at 115 with glasses at room temp and as they have cooled, large circular cracks have appeared in the tops of all candles, also , they are full of frosted lines and wet spots against the glass. They look awful. Not tried burning them yet as I am so dissapointed. I was using the CB advanced but wanted a better heat throw and have been looking for a wax that adheres well to glass. Also used CB135 but it always left a rough top. Can anyone recommend how to make a good looking candle using soy? I am at my wits end! Thanks again
