  1. I've been testing with C-3 and have really liked this wax but just found a supplier only 1 hr away from me that stocks C-1 (they have C-3 but are discontinuing it). I read through the forums and found out the C-1 is a soy/palm blend. Is there an experienced chandler that can help me understand what I can expect from a 85% soy, 15% palm blend? This is a new combo that I've never tried. How will the C-1 behave compared to the C-3? Any C-1 lovers out there? Thanks for any help you can provide.
  2. Loving Beau Brummel. Poured 3 testers 6 hours ago and they are smelling very nice in soy. Love this one so far!
  3. My BB FOs arrived today. They smell great OOB but seem to be fairly mild. I'm a tad worried what will happen in the wax, but I will make up some testers and see what happens. I'll report back...
  4. Here's what I've got coming from BB: Marrakesh Beau Brummel Cybillia Cranberry Fig Smoky Patchouli Vanilla Oak Zanzibar Fresh Bamboo Lemon Cake Mandarin Myrrh Saffron and Honey Vanilla Forest Bonsai These scents sound amazing from their descriptions on the site. If only half of these work out, I'll be thrilled!
  5. I just ordered a bunch of FO samples from Bramble Berry for soy wax. Crossing fingers these work well in soy. I didn't order off of the "candles" section, just the regular FO section. HOPE HOPE HOPE they work because they sound amazing! Anyone have luck with Bramble Berry FOs in soy? (probably should've asked before I ordered!)
  6. I think Moonworks has a lot of fragrances that fall into the complex and woodsy category. I've tested Thieves and Merlin's Forest - both are great and seem to me to be what you are describing. Oh and also Autumn Embers - it smells faintly fireplace-y but has pine and twig smells in there if that helps.
  7. All good suggestions! Thank you! I noticed Day Star has a vanilla scent with a "mysterious note" that they weren't telling about either. Must be the same as V. Voodoo. I think DS's is called Ultimate Vanilla.
  8. I ordered CS Grapefruit and Mangosteen also. I also ordered CCs Fairy Dust and Twinkle Toes. I thought the 2 were very similar OOB. I made a test candle with Fairy Dust and boy it's nice and strong in soy. It might be a nice alternative if you are finding CS Grapefruit not strong enough.
  9. Understandable to a point. It's challenging to market something you don't know much about. Also, if I am asked a question about the fragrance I want to give an educated answer.
  10. I did ask Lyschel but struck out. She wasn't willing to share the notes with me... or simply doesn't have the notes. Not sure which.
  11. Thank you Chris! I hadn't thought of that!
  12. Good grief, yes! I could probably build a small hut in my backyard using the 1 oz. bottles as bricks... and all my "test" wax as mortar! HA!!
  13. Hi - I'm a vanilla vodoo lover (from CC). I'm trying to figure out what some of the other notes are besides vanilla. I don't want to replicate it or anything, but I do want to give a description of the notes to my customers. Anyone have any clues as to what else might be in this scent?
  14. I personally do not color my wax but I still sometimes deal with the ugly discoloration after a burn. And if I use certain FOs, my wax gets colored somewhat anyway... by the color from the oil. For me I don't use dye just because I like the minimalist approach, less is best, when it comes to ingredients added to the candle. But that's just me. I wish the wax would stay beautiful and creamy all the way down, but it doesn't do that all the time. I feel the decision to dye/not dye the wax is best decided by the vision you have for your candle line and how you are going to market it (and who you are marketing to). And obviously how it impacts the quality of your end product.
  15. Yes, I agree, Lsychel is great to work with!
  16. I think my favorites are going to be neroli de la luna, cranberry, clove and cardamon and fairy dust and twinkle toes. The Eucalyptus and Ivy is WOW intense!
  17. I just received the following sample FOs from CC: pillow fight neroli de la luna cranberry clove and cardamom eucalyptus ivy fairy dust and twinkle toes After smelling them I'm skeptical! Anyone made soy candles with these and have good luck?? thx!
  18. Thanks for the suggestion EccoLights! I just realized I posted this in the wrong place - should go on the FO board. My bad.
  19. Thanks for the input! Do the oils work well in candles? Or are they more geared for B&B?
  20. I'm giving the sniffie pack a try. I have mixed feelings about these since they are pricey. Anyone have experience with these fos from DS? I'll be using in soy wax. SHELTER VANILLA ROCK n ROLL RAIN FOREST SWIMM NEKKID FISHNET PANTYHOSE AT LAST INTRIGUE OUT ON A LIMB SHEER MADNESS LAVENDER & AMBER SONNET
  21. Hi - I've been quiet lately but busy candle-making so life is good. So here I am with a question I hope someone can answer. I'm looking for someone who custom blends fragrances for soy wax. I'm a big fan of Candle Cocoon primarily because the FOs are wonderful and concentrated, but also because they are different. However, Lyschel doesn't do custom work, so I'm on a bit of a search. Does anyone know of a person or a company who offers this service? Many thanks.
  22. JacquiO, do you find the low melt point problematic? I really like the Advanced, too for the same reasons you mention, but was worried about the candles getting melty during shipping and at outdoor venues. Any thoughts? I haven't tied the coconut oil in the Advanced but have used it in other waxes and have liked the results.
  23. Yes, it does help, thank you! I am working with Xcel also and still have that one on my list. I hope I can figure it out because it's got a lot of good things going for it.
  24. Love it! So much roomier than my 8x8! Enjoy!
  25. What are the main pros and cons of CB Advanced? I've read quite a bit and have done my own tests, and here are my findings, but I wanted to have these confirmed by those experts out there: Pros: Appearance: smooth top, nice and even pullaway from container Burning: nice even burn, little or no hangup Frosting: little or no frosting Cons: CT/HT: challenging to find FOs that throw well Melt Point: 111* melt point means potential melty mess at outdoor venues or during shipping Am I on the right track with these findings? Any others that I haven't come up with? Thank you!
