  1. We are Queen Bee Candle Company.

About 15 years ago, our mom had tinkered with soapmaking and candlemaking for local craft fairs, and made a little money, but mostly enjoyed the crafting end of it.  Sales slowed and she liquidated her inventory, but we always remembered how much fun it had been to see the kitchen so busy with great-smelling stuff.   When she went home to be with the Lord in 2008, we started out making candles from a Peak's soy container kit for a project to therapeutically keep our minds occupied with something creative and productive.  We ordered another to make Christmas gifts for family, and we were hooked.

We later had requests from gift recipients for more, and landed on the idea that this neat hobby could also generate some extra pocket money.  So, we did our homeworks, got all the proper licensings, insurance, etc.  Our workshop is in the home our mother left us, and we feel such a comforting presence like her spirit watching over us, that we wanted to incorporate her into the business.  Our nickname for her was The Queen, always said with great love and affection, so Queen Bee Candle company was the only name that seemed to be a unique fit for us.

My husband is a graphic artist and free-handed our logo, which is the Queen Bee herself.  The three little gemstones on her crown represent my sister, my mom, and myself :)

  2. I'm having a debate with my partner in crime. We found a case of soy candles that got hidden away from 2 years ago. There is no CT, and when we hit them with heat gun, no HT.

I say we call them "unscented" and clearance them, or put them back for emergency candles the next time the power is out. LOL

My partner thinks we can melt, add new FO, and repour. That's new territory for me. Can that be done successfully?

  3. We have lots of local FaceBook buy/sell/trade pages, and people sell everything there from antiques to real estate.

    I stumbled across this listing:

Scentsy wax chips "2 dozen count bulk" fresh rain sea breeze. Sea shells

    $10.

Home-made, strong scent, just put in your favorite wax warmer and enjoy♥ Park hills area. Cash only.

    "custom candles" home-made crafts♥

I asked: So are they Scentsy or are they home-made?

    She replies:

They are all home-made by me:)

Scentsy is just a catagory, all of my items are home made with care<3

I'm giggling too hard to type. I'd like to explain about patents, trademarks, registrations, etc....but I think it might be lost on her, as she thinks "Scentsy is just a catagory."

  4. Just a couple of questions.

    1. How long are you letting the product cure after you pour? I find that the wax I use, also Golden Wax, tends to have the best hot throw after I've let it cure for 5-7 days.

    2. Who is the maker of the fragrance oil you use? Not all oils work well with soy. Anything I've gotten from Peak throws well. CandleScience has a graphic scale that indicates how well a given oil works with soy.
