  1. thanks Steve,I just tested the melt pool to see which wick was burning hottest, thinking of how fast the fo would burn off when I do add fo.If that makes any scents.I am now getting light film of smoke on eco 4-eeco 6 has more smoke film that is not black yet but close-eco2 and zink wick 51 has no smoke film at all so far.

  2. I have been wick testing comfort blend -with out scent.I burned the candles 4 hours(second burn) and put the flame out and tested temperature of melt pools for 3 minutes ,done with a timer .Will this test help or am I wasting time?

    eco 2...temp135

    eco 4..temp 150

    eco 6..temp 150

    zink wick 51 ..145

what do you think..all the wicks flame about the same so far and no hang ups..no smoke and only mushroom on 51(small).

got to run will be back a little later.

  3. thanks for answering! I used comfort blend before and loved it so much,my clients are wanting it back, but after the last batch -I am afraid to order it from the same supplier,I could not get it to scent like the other batch and it was like soft in the middle and firmer around the outside, kinda of wierd. It has been a long time since that happened,I have been using other waxes but it just is not the same. The supplier did try to help but did not ofter to replace it,I guess I was a fairly new to purchasing there so that could be it.So I was hoping to find a supplier that would replace or test my candle in their wax if things seem to be off.I do test and retest.thanks again:confused:

  4. I like the the molds for cp soap, holds the heat in well, sets up nicely-on candle tarts,I can honestly say the cheaper molds sucks scent out .I have had the molds smell great ,the tarts had hardly a scent.Tested on differnet molds no problem.Hard to believe but thats what happened to me.

  5. that happened to me also and the business was right about 200 miles from me!I called them and was polite to them and they were very rude!

heck -no- they did not care how long I carried the name-there on line name was not even the name of there actaul business !It did not get me any where except upset and that was that!AS long as it is not exact-no one cares!

  6. soap maker's companion --susan miller cavitch, thisbook goes deep into soap making including the chemistry and the oils and butters used, also has recipes for testing scents and oils for a bar at a time(I love that) great recipes in a varity.

    my other most favorite is................

the everything soapmaking book --alicia grosso

I love love the recipes for cp and hp even melt and pour.Easy reading .Down to earth.Worth the money.:yay:

  7. I have had this happen many years ago,did your batter seize when you added the fo?It may be too much fo and added to fast causing your batter to seize before full incorperation of the fo into the batter.I remember trashing my soap ,rebatch did'nt work-the oil kept seeping out a few days later.Good luck to you

  8. hello.the best sellers for me floating candles-floral scents

wickless candles in summer scents(cherry nut ice cream-orange chiffon etc

tarts-lots of requests for any thing blueberry and 60's scents

I do tarts in a jar-no special scent sells best

    worst seller- car fresheners-soaps-body mists-t-lites-votives

muffin candles are a good seller in bakery scents

clam shells selling well -no special scents:rolleyes2

  9. I went through that with lye soap-sting the eyes before but I kept after it until I made a recipe or 2 that does'nt and thats what I make.I use a 10% discount. It is mild with lower ph but it only stores for about 1 year if it is around that long. The liquid soap is mild also even though there is no cure time.Holds up well-scents great-natural creamish color-lathers nicely-will not turn slimey-with age it gets thicker.Try it-Don't change the recipe -water portion can be more or less- or you wil get unfavorable results.I don't know why this is but I have tried different combo's and have had unfavorable results.

  10. I know there will be some dispute on what I am about to say but this has always worked for me with clean burn but you must trim your wicks!

I tried all kinds of wicks and sizes and low smoke zinks too but zink wicks has been my choice and my candle testers agree and I use 10 % fo load.I hope I helped.

  11. Hello,If any one is interested,I have a great recipe for liquid soap, its fast it is easy and and it is made from cp base.I have used it for years. It does not sting my eyes and you can shampoo with it too.

    1/4 cup casto oil

    1/4 cup of olive oil

3/4 cup corn oil (i use stafflower oil)

    1.6 ounce of sodium hydroxide

    3/4 cup water

    warm all oils together

pour lye into water let cool

all ingredients must be same temperature(95 to 100 f is good)

    pour lye water into oils(slowly)!

stir well -to trace(do not scent yet!)do not color yet!

pour any to any mold that will hold this amount

you do not have to cover, sit aside in warm place

in 24 hours-take soap out of mold and grate it up

    liquid soap

    boil 3/4 cup water

    add 1/4 cup grated soap

    stir til smooth

you have to mash it up-then stir til smooth

some timesI add extra water for a thinner liquid soap.

    let this sit over night

    now

you can color or scent it

you can put it in a pump bottle or what ever

  12. I forgot to tell you this story.I have a table I sell yard sale stuff on ,I had a large bag of molds I used for bath bombs and m&p soaps etc,A lady bought them all and I asked her(what plans you have for all these molds? She said(I buy everyones candle tarts use them a day ,pour them into molds and resell sell them! Can you believe that.I asked do you sell many-yes,she says.Thats how I make extra money,I don't know how to make them for my self,so I use the cheaps ones I can find to used and remold. No,she did not buy mine, mine are higher priced than the other 5 sellers of tarts .

I just don't do well in the bath and body items in my area.I do sell some soaps but no much else sells, another vendor makes bath and body too and says the same thing. My dichronic fused glass jewelry sales are poor too, they say i am to expensive ,I tested one day and put 10.00 on a pendant and could not sell it,everyone said (oh how beautiful)walked on? So I don't offer them for sale now.
