  1. I've been testing 16 oz MJ's with 4627 for a year with different scents and wick combos. I have a few wick/scent combos that burn perfectly and some that are not so perfect but still burn pretty well. Ive used RRD, LX, cotton core & HTP wicks. I've narrowed my scents to Coffee, amish harvest, cappuccino and birthday cake. I'm just an enthusiast...not like some of the pro's in here. They may give better insight than I..
  2. Well done...That is a great answer , it makes sense. I appreciate your time.
  3. This is the product of a power burn. I just wanted to just get an idea of what causes this. Burnt wick at top-clean wick then wax. Kinda weird.
  4. I thought that was it, but it wasnt.
  5. Has anyone experienced getting your candle to a FMP faster with a smaller wick than a larger wick? I've tested two candles three times all with identical results. Smaller wick gets FMP @ 1/4" ish deep, in about 3.5 hours, little shroom'n, and no soot. The larger, by only one size, has 3/4-7/8" MP in same time with same depth pool, but some shroom'n, no soot. Weird. But then again, i am kinda new. Thanks
  6. LOL....yea.. Wow, so now I have to test each individual type of candle, well individually. So much work for a hobby! But so relaxing... Thanks so much..
  7. I am a beginner so please bare with me. Q: Can different fragrances make candles burn faster or slower? My example, I have 4 candles, all with the same wick, wax and fragrance amounts. 2 have Amish harvest, two are coffee. The coffee candles burn slower than the Amish when tested at the same lengths of time. Just weird... Thank you Marc
  8. Just wondering when one see's a statement such as "fragrance oil retention of 10%", how does the percentage correlate to wax, in pounds? I guess my question is what is 10% or 6% in ounces, per pound? Thanks so much.

  10. Starr, So is the FO figured to dry or melted weight?
  11. Thanks so much... I am measuring the weight of the wax and then melting it. Afterwhich, I pour that weight into the metal pitcher and to the line that i have marked. I will add frag & color to that weight, I have 1 & 2 pound marks. All the time keeping my temps in line. Being a contractor helps... is this the norm??
  12. Just wondering...when I melt my wax in my presto pot, is it okay to pour off my desired amount into a metal pitcher and then add dye and frag at that point? I am trying to pour a couple different scents & colors at the same time. Anyone else doing this? Thanks a bunch.
