  1. yes, it is yaley. and it was $20 for the 10 lb slab, and i've seen it a lot cheaper, including shipping, online. and it's probably a better quality as well. i'll try 1/2 oz though, thank you!!
  2. it's my tester wax, it was a gift from my husband, a 10 lb block from michael's crafts. i don't know much agout it, as there's nothing on the label except premium candle wax. i wanted to try a few things out with it before i got REAL wax and tried to make decent ones. gotta love him for trying though!
  3. i'm trying to scent a candle, everything i read says 1oz FO to 1lb wax. that seems like an awful lot once i melted down the 1lb of wax to test it on. i don't want to use too much and have it pool on the bottom of the candle since i'm making a pillar. any advice?
  4. i was making a pillar last night, and i had the color perfect, the pour came out perfect, for the first time ever there were no layer lines from the repour. it wasn't until it was hardened that i realized, after adding in the necessary additives, i didn't put in fragrance... will remelting this candle to add in the fragrance ruin the candle?
  5. hi! been a while since i was on here, i had to put candlemaking on hold, but i'm back into it! i've got questions though...hopefully someone here can help! the backstory: my husband has MS [start sympathy] 28 and will never walk again [end sympathy] i did the MS walk this year for the first time and will do it every year for him now. but i felt i didn't raise enough. i've found some really neat candle ideas and will be trying them, testing them, etc. once satisfied i'll try to sell them, with $1-$4 from each candle going to the MS society of new england. i won't be marking them up, i'll be pricing them to cover my costs, the donation amount, and a small portion, most likely just barely over the donation amount, for myself. i'll get pricing advice when i post pics of the finished works. my questions: 1. is any form of permit required for craft fairs in mass, or can you direct me to a place that has the answers? 2. same thing for tax id number.... 3. when doing something like this, should i contact the ms society in advance in case people are questioning my intentions with this money? i'm sure i'll have more questions...
  6. awesome! thanks! just found a place in the mall that sells 4" chime candles, that's the size i need, hopefully i'll find something!
  7. yeah, it's been a while. haven't touched my pot in months. anyway, i need help with tapers. i want to make them about 6 inches long and the molds i have that are quite old are like a foot long and they don't work well, they usually crack on me and i can't get them out. besides the time consuming dipping them one at a time, are there better ways? also, if anyone knows of a place i can maybe get a 6" taper mold that would be great! ~Reenie
