I've been seeing some really crazy trends lately when it comes to soap. All kinds of new shapes, sizes, and types. One of the biggest things I've seen is the addition of an ingredient in the soap, such as an exfoliant or some type of additional aesthetic ingredient into the soap.

Some of the things I've seen include Thyme, Berries, leaves, various herbs/spices, and espresso beans.

What are some of the additions you've seen.... and the oddest?

I've seen so many people try the swirly stuff on their first soap, and I can say that I won't be doing that. I'm sure you'll have much better luck on your second batch. There are so many awesome soap makers out there willing to give advice based on their experience... much better than a book.

Where I work, we have different shelf lives for each different oil. I don't know about using them years and years afterwards - but I imagine if people are doing it and having okay results with their soaps, it couldn't be too bad.

I agree with the first post - including all of your overhead in the price would be idea on something like this. Adding additional charges really turns people off to purchasing. They like to see one price

For the fall, I am generally into anything warm smelling - I never really thought about how many fall scents were all food-related! Wow!

I am sending my condolences - I lost my 15 year old sister a few years ago in a very untimely, and accidental death. She was my only sister, and I definitely felt quite maternal for her - being that I am 6 years older than her, and her mother left when she was younger. I've never lost a child of my own, but if it's anything like losing a younger sibling, I can only imagine...

I've found that it never quite feels "better", but it does get easier to deal with as time goes on.

I agree with the last poser - many people will purchase older oils and butters for their own purposes - whether it be to practice with, or simple to use in other concoctions. People tend to get pretty resourceful with things they can get for less money.

That's such a cute name for a business - and especially why it's named that. It's a good conversation starter for networking as well.

I've asked a few people that I know who I thought would have an idea... nope!

1. Make sure the Domain is available (.com's are always best)

2. Register your domain name with godaddy, or another reputable registrar.

3. You can run your business as a sole proprietorship, but having a DBA and business license in order is recommended.

NOOOO! Paypal has a very big minus to using it at all... "customers" can easily call and say they never got their product... then the charges are immediately reversed. They also call their credit card company and say they never got their product and have the charges reversed... all while they end up with the product..leaving you high and dry.

Bewaaaare. I am in the internet industry (and have been for 12 years), and I DO NOT recommend using paypal if you can help it. Myself and many of my past clients have witnessed the scamming that goes on... and Paypal does a horrible job of keeping it at bay.
