  1. Okay being new here I know some of my questions make you scratch your head but I am trying candles and my daughter in law wants to do lip balms...my question is how do you measure percents in lip balm, when you say 75% of something 24% and 1% how do you measure that and also grams...she asked and I can not find the answer for her anywhere:confused: I know for those of you who make this it is probably a ridiculous question but this isn't my thing and I do not know what to tell her or where to begin...
  2. Wow, see search and you will find, I answered my own question...but thanks anyway girls

  4. Hello there, I have been posting where I am allowed and reading for the last month...so many of you share such wonderful experiences and have so much to offer, I feel there is so much information out there and not enough time in the day...anyway I am going out here on a limb and it might be a little crazy but I have decided to spend time with my 2 teenage daughters and try and find something they would enjoy and keep them occupied and out of trouble..so here we are wanting to learn how to make candles and such...my question is where do we start..I just want this to be a hobby and around here there is no one to talk to or ask questions let alone buy supplies, anyway I do not know if I should start with tarts or try candles (the whole wick thing scares me) what to buy how much to buy...I see this can be very addicting and so many of you have done such beautiful work that I feel a little crazy even being out here but I love crafts and being the mother of 7 I try and devote time to everyone and try and find something each would enjoy...so please any input would be appreciated...thanks for helping and can not wait to start and learn from everyone out here:yay:

  13. I taught myself as well, no books, just time and patience...start small and simple and work up from there, also buy a basic sewing machine as the more complicated the more confusing also you may find that you don't care to sew...good luck
  14. My daughter made one for my son when he was first born and 2 years later he still sucks his thumb and carries it around by the fringe...he loves it and so do I very comforting
  15. I have always made my moms, my father taught me years ago to use the chicken wire but to fold it making it round and connect the ends, that you cut making a circle and then flatten it and just start sticking evergreen branches in the opposite ends i hope i didn't confuse anyone but fill it up and use picks to decorate also to hold it down cut wire hangers and straighten to use to anchor it down, good grief it is easier to do then give directions...eek but I hope this helps and have a wonderful holiday
  16. absolutely gorgeous, and congrats on your ultrasound
