I get my aroma beads from NG. They are great from there. On the lines of sea glass, have you tried using rock salt? You can color it too to make it pretty. Is it saltworks.com that you can buy huge sizes of the salt. I made some of the rocks with just dendritic salt, fo, and the rocksalt. I have one on my desk here and the smell is fantastic. I actually have a storebought diffuser on my desk that has ZERO smell, but my salt rocks are great! Totally outshine the diffuser. Just a thought since you were looking for new air freshner ideas!
I got curious so I went looking and just wanted to correct that it's not saltworks.com, it's saltworks.us (Don't you love all the different website endings out there? :rolleyes2 )
Thanks for the heads up!

I've had a visitor from out of town so haven't had a chance to play with it again. When I asked NG about the issue I was having they said that no one else has reported that issue. But she did go to her own kitchen and test the goats milk base and said she had no problems. She thinks maybe I didn't get it hot enough so I'll try again with the other half of the bases that I have and see what happens.

I only do aroma beads and melt and pour but I really like their Coconut Curry Custard and Orange Chocolate Truffle.
-
Never made them which I found odd since they're one of his favorite things! He said if they didn't get them at his grandmother's house, then they had store bought.
When you say real marshmallows do you mean those you make yourself? I still haven't tried making them but it's on my list to do.
-
LOL Oh that is funnier than you know because I have marshmallows and cereal sitting on my counter to make those tomorrow with DH. (I cannot believe he's 34 and NEVER made them in his life!)
-
Well initial soaping with the new NG bases turned out to be a pain in the butt. I have an email in to them to see if it's something I did or the bases themselves so I'll let you know as soon as I hear something. But both types turned into more of a marshmallow fluff consistency as I melted them and didn't truly melt all the way for me. I have it sitting on the counter till I see if I can fix it somehow.
More to come!

NG has two scents: Texas Barrel Cactus and Wild Wild West. You might order the 1 oz sizes to see if that's what you're looking for. I have them both but I'm not good describing the scents. The web description would be more help than I would be!
If you want to try these, let me know. I have a one ounce bottle of each that I'm not using and I'll send you.

Yeah, my supplies have pretty much invaded my office, a cabinet in the kitchen, part of the closet in the back bedroom, and DH made some more shelves for me in my pantry downstairs. What started out as a simple hobby (candles and now soap) has turned into a major addiction. Hi, my name is Jan and I am a FoHo...
And a general question for everybody. Is all M&P soap very slippery in the shower? It's like trying to hold onto a greased pig. Mine goes airborne quite a bit because I'm holding the bar so tight. Oh well, if anything, it keeps my dogs entertained.
J
My stuff started out in a small cabinet and now take the entire closet of the guest room and my desk in the guest room.. well that is when they aren't creeping all over the counter in the kitchen.
I opened my FO cabinet today while cleaning and the next thing I knew DH was grabbing the camera and said "Talk about a FO-ho!" And I don't think I'm nearly as bad as some folks I've seen on here so he has NO idea!
And can I say that was quite the entertaining mental image of the dogs watching the flying soap. Mine doesn't seem to be too slippery in the tub, but I don't know why it would be that much different from yours.
Incidentally I didn't get anything poured today but I fully intend to tomorrow if it kills me! *faint*

Please let us know how you like the base from NG. Which one was it, btw? Yup, just what I need, more supplies! :rolleyes2
I certainly will. I'm doing some soaping tomorrow and making some sugar scrub cubes so I'll post results. I got two pounds of the all natural goats milk and two of the all natural yogurt.
I know what you mean about more supplies... I'm cleaning out my storage closet in the guest room and I'm on my second day of organizing! Wonder who put all that stuff in my closet!

Not a lot of help from me, just a note on the flexibility of the soap. I had the same thing happen when I tried this and if I remember rightly, I left it sit out for a day or so to let it lose some moisture and it hardened up some. I have a new base from NG so I'll be trying it again in the future too. That is a great thing about this.. if at first you don't succeed, well I guess it just means buy more supplies and try again!

From NG I like Lemon Meringue Pie for bakery and Chubba Dubba Weight loss for non bakery. (I rename that last one. )

If you're on facebook she actually has a page where she interacts with customers and you might ask how soon she'll have them in bulk. (let me know if you need info as I'm a fan on fb)

My review on Nature's garden goats milk and yogurt base.
love them both...
both are nice lathering and skin feels good after use.
I just showered with the goatsmilk soap, with added 2 tb kaolin clay and one trader joes green tea bag, no scent yet. I wanted to see how it was without scent first.
Soap is firm and not sweating.
I actually smell a clean scent to my skin and it feels soft.
Now I hope it will last a couple weeks in the shower.
I think this is the one I will be using for my m&p fun
Very excited to hear that you love these so much. My order is due to arrive tomorrow and I bought one of each!
I seem to have that same burning/drying reaction to some of the other bases I've tried too.

I made these before with all mango and they turned out fine I thought. Just made them recently with the cocoa butter and a coffee FO, rolled in sugar and a little coffee grounds as a gift for a friend who is a coffee junkie. He said it's a great way to start the day a coffee shower and then a cup of the real thing. Love these!
-
LOL, I do the same... tons of 1oz bottles and a hubby wondering what all the tiny bottles are, oh wait, she's making me sniff them again must be something with her business!
If I find something I think might work for me, I keep it. If I order something and it really doesn't float my boat even OOB, I try to share with someone else who might want to try it too. Sometimes they pay me for it and sometimes we just swap ounce for ounce for something they might have that I don't.

Don't know what you are putting it in, but definitely Caramel Dip! I totally forgot how good it was until I made some aftershave for DH and he asked for this scent. I got it on my hands and wanted to eat them!
-
Not a cake scent, but Lemon Meringue Pie from NG is very nice and is a bakery scent so it might fit what you need.

Cool thread! And interesting to see how people come up with something as personal as a business name.
I was originally a personal chef with the name Kate's Kitchenfairy, but because of my area, it just didn't work out. But I loved my logo and had something else in mind for the name. I work only with food based scents so I am Kitchen Fairy Fragrance... it lets me start with the aroma beads and melts that I'm working on now and then I'll be able to expand to anything else. :smiley2:

I've never smelled the original but when I saw you say cake and rum it made me think... NG has an almond rum cake. I know the almond is not in the original but maybe it's a start?
-
I wonder if absorption sometimes depends on the quality of your beads too. I got my last batch from BCN because I had someone recommend them. Where does everyone else get theirs from?
-
Just my two cents but I have found that citrus scents absorb fastest and high vanilla or mint tend to take the longest. I use a ratio just a bit higher on most of those.. my typical is 1oz oil to 4oz beads but the longer ones get 1oz oil to 5oz oil.
-
I've not made these yet myself but the instructions I found said to place a short screw in where you want the hole before placing it in the oven. Anyone tried this before?

sangria (NG)
fuzzy naval
margarita (NG- have regular and frozen)
mojito (NG)
martini
bahama mama
just off the top of my head.
how's that for a non-drinker?
If I have no supplier noted then I haven't had one from anywhere yet.. sorry.
-
Sorry Candlemama! Pay no attention to the crazy woman whose hubby was gone last night for the first time in 10 months... I forgot what it was like to be alone! LOL
I promise to be more patient, less panicky, and to think, oh yeah and to read more carefully! One step at a time, one step at a time! :tiptoe:
I'd played with M&P straight but this was the first time adding a bunch to it and I was certain I'd been the first to create a huge disaster.
Off to get a hold of myself and try this again. Thanks everyone!

to give the right supplier
I thought it was ok, but I've never put it in wax (I do B& but Snowdrift Farms also has a very nice kettle corn that smelled a little more corny to me. Worth a shot!
