  1. Don't know how involved you want to get with packaging your soaps but, I had the same problems a few years ago and finally gave up selling soap because I couldn't find decent packaging. Then I found a company called The Box Co-op on the web. They make all kinds of boxes from soap boxes to candle boxes to cosmetics boxes. You design your own box and they print it on their box stock, ship it to you and then you assemble the boxes as you use them. You can put a lot of information on the different sides of the box, along with the box flaps. They make a very nice package for soaps and I never have to worry about my soaps getting damaged in transport, getting dusty at craft shows, getting soap on other items in a gift basket, etc. Just a thought.

  2. Sorry, I must have misunderstood your intentions. My bad :embarasse

Truth is, when I read your comment I think my face took on the same spectrum of light as the sun! :rolleyes2

I guess I'm just a little sensitive about comments made about beeswax candles because I am continually having to defend the higher price of my candles to customers who are more intersted in the price than the quality of the products they buy. Beeswax candles are not Wal-Mart specials!!!

As far as a test someone set up to measure the light spectrum or lumen output per hour between beeswax and other waxes using identical sized candles and wicks, I don't know if I read anything like that but, I will try to find what I did read and post that information.

    Satisfied? :highfive:

  3. I personally don't/won't make beeswax container candles, just votives, pillars and tapers. Because of the large wick you need to use with beeswax, containers can and will get very hot, so be careful. I ended up breaking a couple jars with my testing years ago, so that ended my beeswax container endeavor and I stuck with the others instead. :cool2:

I agree totally, I have tried to make simply little candle tins that were only 4 oz. but even they do not burn as good as the candles that are not in containers. I, also have quit making containers with beeswax.

  4. As pointed out, I never said the candles burn as hot as the sun or put out as much light as the sun. Stella seems to be trying her hardest to defend making paraffin candles and I'm not trying to say that's wrong, I'm only telling you what I have read. As far as links on the internet, I'm afraid I don't know of any. What I have read was printed material. I'm kind of sorry I even responded to the post in the first place.

  5. You're saying that most of you don't have scientific journals laying around is the precise reason you shouldn't be making comments like you did. I don't mean to go off "half-cocked", I just don't like being the brunt of uneccessary jokes.

Being a commercial beekeeper, I HAVE read everything I could get my hands on about beeswax and it's properties in order to learn everything I could about my craft. Now, whether what I have read is right or wrong, I only meant to help out a fellow candlemaker.

I thought that's what this forum was for...

  6. I am looking for a couple of recipes. I want to use beeswax in all of my formulas since I am a beekeeper so would prefer only those recipes.

I want to make a healing balm (used for cuts, burns, etc.) and also would like to find a cold sore salve recipe.

Any help would be appreciated. :grin2:
