  1. I just started having some issues with smooth tops using 464. I was pouring between 135 to 140 and now my tops are not smooth (they were better when it was hotter weather, but never perfect). I tried to level with a heat gun, but when I do the tops look really grainy, which is better than cracked looking I guess. Is there a technique to use when using a heat gun? I use circular motions just over the top of the candle. In addition can you get a smooth top by using a heat gun or is it grainy because of the 464? I am going to try pouring hotter, but I am not sure if it will work, since the top of the range for pouring is 140. Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
  2. I am using the 464 wax. Actually I just triple wicked my 10 oz. Apothecary jar and now it works fine. I guess some wax/FO combinations work better than others!
  3. I have a question regarding soy wax candles. I have been making soy candles for almost a year now and have finally got my perfect wax (so far) and am using Cd wicks. Keeping in mind that you need to develop a complete burn pool at a slow rate (4-5 hours) do all soy candles leave a slight film on the glass as they burn down? I have actually never purchased a soy candle and was thinking about doing that just to see how it would burn. My candles look great, throw scent, etc. but they always leave a slight film the glass. Maybe it is the nature of soy?
