I use JS 50/50 for my containers. I use zinc wicks and get a great ht and ct. Smooth tops. I do top off but that's just my personal preference. I also use JS 50/50 votive/pillar wax for my tarts and votives and works just as great.

Those are very pretty! I have done layered tarts before and even though they are time consuming they do draw attention.

I don't wash all mine but if they have a residue I will wash them

I'm the same way. Sometimes there is just too much residue and it just annoys me. I used to use paraffin wax before I switched to a 50/50 blend and it just seemed that the paraffin looked awful if there was residue in the jar. I'd just throw the jars in the dishwasher.

I always put a warning label on each individual votive. That way if the recipient of the basket decides to give away any votive, at least the warning label goes with the votive.
