I have never seen it in the US, but it is only going for about $13 and $5 shipping, not too bad. Pay pal takes care of the conversion.

I got same as Vicky. Looks good so far

Yea for mom!!!:yay::highfive:

I think I would try adding some kind of thickener to it, I don't see where that would hurt/disrupt the chemical balance, but that's just my opinion, and I am by no means an expert at this B&B stuff at all.
When you add something to it, you change the batch weight. Your preservitve is based on the total batch weight. So when you add too much, you can render the preservitve useless.

Off the top of my head, anise, spearamint, pepermint, lemon, grapefruit, and orange.

By customers, I am referring to those that have viewed the site. I have asked about 10 people if they found the material offensive, if they felt I was bashing people, and if they found the information helpful. No one found anything wrong with it.
Yes, so far, I have only sold to family and friends. Still, I have successfully filled about ten orders, with more coming every day. I am just starting, but I have tested my product, and I have not produced one single candle with any flaw other than ugliness.
Well hell, I must find out how you get orders. I have given out my website at shows and at an art/craft show at my work. I have had plenty of views but no orders.
I am sorry, but you are being very defensive and that doesn't sit well with me.

And of course I was a bad girl and didn't have my gloves on. I don't have fingerprints anymore. :rolleyes2
Once apon a time there was a really wise soaper. She got on me for not wearing my gloves when I had soap go all over the place. Gee, I wonder who that soaper could be?
Don't feel bad Robin. I don't know what went wrong, but I have a batch of patch that hasn't gotten hard enough to cut in 3 days.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am thinking I will order a gallon of RBO from One-der here in Texas. It is cheaper than the website that e gave.
It looks like their gal price is a bit cheeper, but their 5 gal is worlds appart. $30 from HS and $52.50 from ODB

Yup that makes sence. I am not totally sure, but what i was going to do was cut my batch down by 1lb of oils. I figured that would be enough to still fill my mold, but not overfill. I have a ton of curls laying around, so I figure if need be i can just add more.

I believe the company that carries TDF's butters now is http://www.onederbar.com . They are in Fredericksburg, Tx. I was running low on Palm oil and placed an order to try them out. I was very impressed with their prices, delivery time and quality of product. I'll definitely be using them again:D .
That's funny cause I thought their prices were on the high side. I have started ordering most of my oils and such from Columbus foods or Oils by Nature. Ricebran from Honest Foods.

another supplier that is as good. Do you happen to know who took over or their address? I like to buy 50 pounds at a time and need to be sure it is as good a quality. I don't like the stinky kind or the snow white kind that is all bleached out either. Any suggestions would be wonderful. I live in Oregon and shipping is a big concern. Soapymomma
I feel that this shea is much better than TDF. I used to use the raw unrefined from TDF but started useing this before they stopped selling. I dont' feel you will be dissapointed.

I've read that you need to have a liquor license in order to sell vodka, no matter what it's application. I'll have to read up on this further to be sure..
Denatured alcohol would be acceptable from what I've read.
Yes on the denatured. Regular alcohol isn't approved by the FDA for cosmetic use.

Total batch weight.

I would always preserve scrub. JMHO, but I am sure others would agree.

It was a good show, and I had a really good time doing it. Here are the pics I have. The pics my mom posted are from day 2 of set up. I really liked that set up better, although now we are talking about just getting 2 spots side by side.

Oh yea, DH said I had to keep all of the pics of him in. It's the many faces of Jim, lol.

Well, really, you should have left it alone at her last reply. YOu said your piece, she said hers. You didn't want her to contact, she didn't want to contact you, everything's gravey and everyone is happy. Personally, by sending the last letter, you were just stirring up shit. Let this one die. You are not going to gain anything by replying to her.
Also, updates could have been posted in the same thread.

And now you have the start of your list of peeps not to take checks from. Every other business does it.

Thanks so much everyone! I love the lady who did it for me. She was the most fantastic person to work with!

No one has mentioned this on any of the boards I read, but couldn't you use agave? Its very sweet, but liquid.

I have customers asking for goats milk soap, but since hubby wont let me have a goat, I guess that I will have to settle for the powder. My questions is when and how is this added??
mrsgrooms
My DH wont let me have a goat either. Doesn't it suck? I told him it would be fine in the living room and I am sure the cat and dog would love it. Oh well..
Shelf Life of Oils
in General Soap Making
Posted
So in a search I came across this site http://www.soapnuts.com/shelf.html
My question is, is this pretty hard and fast? I have had my oils in basement storage for about 2 years. About a week ago I opened a bunch and sniffed. They all smell ok to me. My main concern is the rice bran and almond oils. Any suggestions? And I do know how rancid oil smells, it's a long story but I was conned into making cookies with crisco that was very much past it's prime.
